Stand on the equator and receive a fascinating explanation of a heliocentric perspective of the earth based on pre-Incan astronomic data found through monuments aligned with the equator and the equinoxes. Beautiful sun dial set in paving stones on the equator line and clear presentations...More

This is a great place to stop to listen and learn. Have an open mind. The explanation only takes 15 minutes or so, but very interesting.

To be able to stand on the Equator just blew my mind. I took a picture of me straddling the equator, one foot in the northern hemisphere and one foot in the southern hemisphere. It was so cool to listen to the guide talk about...More

Forget the tourist trap "equators" & trips offered to you in Quito, this is the true equator. It is a community run non-profit organisation that educates the public & researches archaeologically significant sites throughout Ecuador, for their importance with respect to the history of pre-Hispanic...More

This was a pretty interesting and unexpected visit as I didn’t realize we’d be coming to this site. It was neat to get a bit of history on the equinox, how everything is measured, etc., The staff offer brochures, videos, etc., for purchase and the...More

We stopped by after riding horses in Cayambe and really enjoyed this spot! Not only is it the REAL equator (not that tourist trap in Quito) but it's very educational. A staff member gave us an interesting mini-lecture on how the sundial works and of...More
