If you are looking for different and active summer days, Stryn Summer Ski is a definite first choice. Towering mountains and Nordic climate makes skiing and snowboarding possible during the lightest and warmest Scandinavian summer days. In the middle of the glacier landscape, Mother Nature has created a large amusement park – young or old, professional or amateur will find great fun here with their skis or snowboard. The lifts will bring you to 1600 m.a.s.l (5250ft), where you get the feeling of being on top of Norway. Surrounded by mountain peaks, the Scandinavia’s largest glacier and views down to the fjords makes a visit unforgettable. The season starts late May and lasts to mid or late July depending on the snow conditions. At the bottom station you’ll find a cafeteria, toilets, ski shop with ski- and snowboard hires and ticket office . Remember sunscreen, sunglasses, light clothing, but also winter and wind-proof clothing, the weather can change quickly. Stryn Summer Ski Centre is the most renowned summer ski resort in Northern Europe, it’s located by the 100 year old national tourist route, Old Strynefjellsvegen (RV 258), 45 km East of Stryn city centre. Please respect all signs and warnings in the skiing area. It’s strictly forbidden to move or change any signs or markings. Any activity outside the ski area boundaries involves danger and is at your own risk. Do not move beyond the ski area boundaries without local knowledge.

For starters, this place gets ridiculous amounts of snow, so much that they can't actually open until it starts to melt in summer (hence "sommerski") and they're able to plow the road to it. The drive in, perhaps equally as memorable as any part of...More

It was a warm July day when I rode my motorcycle along Rv258, the journey to the Ski School from either end is simply stunning, I could see the ski lifts from the school building, if I could ski I'd go back!!!

Sorry, there is no public transport to the ski centre. Best tips to get there without own car is to go by bus to Folven Camping and ask about hitchhiking. Parts of the season the camping normally has a bus service as well.
