This small walled medieval town is a nice place to get away from the big city for a day. Plenty of shops and restaurants. You can go behind the small church to find the wooden stairs to allow you to walk on the city walls...More

Just simply a great place to visit. Four towers surround the walled city which you get to by walking up the steep slope or stairway. Not too difficult. Views over the lake are spectacular. Plenty of places for children to enjoy themselves by the lake....More

Murton is the best preserved Swiss medieval city. It is especially amazing since the city walls and ramparts are pretty much intact. This is a must see for anyone.

Easy to climb to the parapet on the top of the old city wall. There are great views of the town and surrounding area. Lots of history here. And there is no charge for walking on the old wall. Great for taking pictures.

We really enjoyed walking the city walls in Murten. The signs and historical information were helpful to understand the significance of this town, and the battle fought outside it. Very interesting walk.
