About
Mr. & Mrs. Puddicombe along with their four children and staff mission is to provide families with the opportunity to visit the countryside and embrace what Mother Nature provides us among family and friends. It's the simple things in life that make all the difference and create the best ever-lasting memories. For more than 210 years Puddicombe Estate Farms & Winery has harvested its own fruits to provide fresh produce and a wide variety of value added products such as hand-baked pies, jams, jellies, cookies, tarts, strudels, cider, fudge and wines. In the last few years Puddicombe Estate has adopted a field to table approach with all of its catered events serving items grown and picked for the occasion right from the farm or brought in from other local growers within a 100 mile radius of Puddicombe Estate. Puddicombe Estate believes that a farm fresh meal is a very basic yet integral part of maintaining a strong bond with families and friends. We believe this philosophy strengthens our communities and enriches our lives.

Halloween at the Farm
Oct 2020 • Couples
My husband and I spent an afternoon at the Farm. It was nice to take the train to see the property. We definitely recommend the ciders and bumbleberry pie. Yum! Thanks for making our Halloween special.

NICE TRAIN RIDE
Sep 2020
The train ride takes you through the winery, pears farm, peach farm. The takes about 15 - 20 mts. The kids will enjoy the ride.

What a Dump
Aug 2020
This was a stop on our wine tour. The wine samples we had were awful. We are a group of wine lovers and many of us didn't even bother to finish our samples. The little shop is nice but didn't have any items that caught our eye. Our guide told us they are known for their fudge. We went to check it out but they only had 2 small squares of 2 flavours. The biggest problem is the property. There are weeds, broken signs, ladders and odds/ ends everywhere. There is a teeny little terrible play area for kids which is closed off. There are some animals but they were hard to see among the weeds. Honestly, the place looked abandoned. The owners need to decide if they are "in" and commit to fixing up the place or if they are "out" and move on. This place should not be a stop on a wine tour.

Fantastic farm Experience! (just follow the rules)
Jul 2020 • Family
I love everything about this place!!! The location, the wine, the fruit, the treats in their store. When reading other reviews from other visitors, I think it is important for everyone to remember a couple of things. 1) it is a WORKING farm. This means that the farm is operating in a way to bring in its fruit and still continue to serve the public 2) They are farmers trying to do their best to bring their harvest to you. 3)When you are going to "pick your own" this does not mean you can dig up some of their plants and then ask staff how to care for them (i kid you not i literally watched someone do this). This is stealing and damaging. 4) When they ask you to wear gloves and masks. Wear them for your safety and the safety of others. 5) wine tasting on this working farm is a really difficult thing to right now but they are doing their best. Support them. Farmers feed cities.

Not suited to weekend wine tastings
Jul 2020
This was a stop on our Niagara Fun Tours - Niagara Wine Tour and Tastings with Transport. Of the four locations we visited this was by far the least organized. A staff member came out, poured us a few samples and was gone. A little history of the winery, etc. would go a long way. They are crazy busy here because of the farm and might want to reconsider any future weekend wine tastings.

A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
Oct 2019
Disappointing to say the least. No outside food allowed in. We had packed a lunch, because that is part of the fun. So we paid nearly $20 for 4 hotdogs, a handful of chips, an apple cut betwenn 4 of us, and a few carrots. Indoor eatong area was COLD, more like a summer porch, and the highchairs were FILTHY. No napkins, drinks not included. The 'animals' consisted today of an emu in a small run, and a few peacocks in another. A few signs up about cyberbullying causing the animals not to enjoy people any more. The 'playground' was AWFUL. A small area with some plastic little tyke type toys, and one very run down wooden climber type thing. The train ride was pretty, but Puddicombes can hardly take credit for the fall colours. I understand that this is a working farm and winery.. That is the focus, clearly.. so, either they should make the place worth peoples' time and money, or close to the public. I have listened to their advertising for years. I wager they spend more on advertising than they do on upkeep. Terrible, awful choice of places to go. An embarrassment to the Niagara Penninsula.

What a dump
Oct 2019
Went there on a sunny Wednesday. No animals were available to see or pet. Did not seem to be any staff around. Waited for the train over 1/2 hour, did not show up. Got my money back. Do not waste your time going.

Huge waste of time and money!
Aug 2019
There is nothing to do here if you are not here to pick fruit. The amount that they charge to take their "train" through the estate is exorbitant for three people - over $20 - and all you pretty much see are trees and dilapidated vehicles. There are a handle of animals - literally - that you can see - two pigs, an emu and some peacocks. The goat pen looks like a lot of fun to watch but it is an area that the public can't access. The "playground" is a mish mash of weathered discarded play sets. The store is overpriced and, honestly, the peaches didn't taste any different than those I can get in a store. Surprisingly they have a winery and ciders, but they charge for samples unless you buy something (then the price of tastings is taken of the price). I'll stick to NOTL, thank you. I wish we had kept driving by tbh.

A Charming shop and winery
Aug 2019
This is a working farm and not an amusement park, so people need to adjust their expectations. We were visiting some other local wineries and decided to stop in here at the end. It was a charming little place. We were on wine a day, so we went to the wine part. Now the Puddicombe wines are never going to win best wine in the world, but they are very accessible and are reasonably priced. the young man at the wine counter did an excellent job describing and recommending things. I hope the management realize what a superstar they have there, because he made me want to try more and buy more. The store had elderberry jam, which is such a rare treat. We left with a smile on our faces.

Stop by if you are in the Neighborhood
Aug 2019
Puddicombe Estate Farms & Winery is a good way to kill a couple of hours on a weekend afternoon. I wouldn't recommend traveling or going out of your way to visit, but worth stopping by if you are already in the area.

The train tour is quaint and scenic. You will enjoy a lovely view of the working farm and the Niagara escarpment. This tour would be especially beautiful in the spring when the fruit trees blossom or in the fall when the trees change colour. Our tour guide was informative and very kind.

If you purchase the train tour and tasting ticket for $12.95, you can sample four types of wine and cider after your train tour. The fruit wine and ciders are their best offerings.

Manage your expectations for this visit. The animals (donkey, horses, goats) are behind a barrier, so you can only briefly glimpse them from the train. You will not be able to get up close to take photos.

The biggest drawback is the customer service. Don't go expecting to be dazzled, but it's a nice little excursion if you don't mind being patient. It can be difficult to get service or answers to your inquiries. For example, our group was directed to stand in three different lines to purchase tickets. We waited about 10 minutes in each line before being told by various staff members that they could not assist us and we would have to go to another area for service. It is also nearly impossible to get a response to an online inquiry or by telephone.
