This cathedral is very "out of place" - not to be imagined on a South Pacific isle! It is a lovely large church not too far from the cruise docking area (possibly 15-minutes walk). The exterior is beautiful, but the interior is light, airy, and...More

This is a special spot of historical interest as well as spiritual interest. We were there as they were preparing for Palm Sunday services. Beautiful voices.

Located along the waterfront it is a modern and beautiful church, so unlike the traditional Polynesian churches and is well worth a short visit.

A short distance from the Nuku Hiva harbor is the Notre Dame Cathedral. Although this is a relatively new structure the surroundings are beautiful and the carvings inside are classic Marquean. Wheelchair accessible.

We were fortunate to meet a Frenchman willing to provide history of the church. Worth a stop by to see. Lovely grounds and setting for the Cathedral.

A very well built and maintained church (locally called a cathedral and, if it's the seat of the Bishop so be it, but it is rather small....) in a beautiful setting. Very well kept grounds and building indicate that the local congregation really value it.
