We did the northern end of this route - up to the lake, which was about an hour and a half (with some stops for photos!). This suited our travel itinerary and was not too long for us in the car (travelling from Sibiu). Absolutely...More

It is as good as they say on Top Gear. We drove from south to north so the drive just got better and better. Lots of meanders among the trees then you go above the tree line so you get better views. As you go...More

Best road in Europe due to amazing unique views, not due to the quality of the asphalt (which is mediocre). But leaving the asphalt aside, the experience of driving here is awesome and totally worth it. The road is safe, and none of the curves...More

I’m not a car nut at all but this was an amazing experience. It’s not at all as scary as I thought it looked- we went on a really foggy day and I’m not the most confident driver and it was absolutely fine as long...More

What a great road with Amazing views. Concentration required. We did this in our Motorhome and were able to stop in different places to take photos. We would highly recommend it.

This is simply a must-do for a motrbike traveller! I was suprised that the road surface is not as good as I've imagined, but it's definitely doable. The road is perfect for cars, for bikers it's a so-so and they must pay attention. Nevertheless, that...More

The weather was a little cloudy when me and 3 other friends drove the Trangagarasan Highway however the drive was lovely, there were not many vehicles about and at places it seemed that you were all alone. There are plenty of stopping points to pull...More

We drove this road today in beautiful sunshine and very light traffic. In fact we must have seen more motorbikes than cars. Let's get one thing clear. This is not a dangerous road and is a piece of cake for any competent, confident driver. It...More

This wasn't the main aim of our road trip round Transylvania BUT we really enjoyed it! We had a hired 4x4 and took turns to drive the winding roads, pause, take pics on the many lay-bys and swap over again until we reached the lake...More

Drove it completely yesterday Friday 6/29 from south to north – spectacular. We did not need to go past any barricades but there might have been a sign or two that suggested the highway was closed. Road was nearly perfect and there were other cars...More

Yup. We rented a bottom of the line car that was basically a step up from a bicycle and had no trouble. Just make sure it's in good working order with brakes, emergency brake, tires not bald etc...

Yes. You will be on the E60, Brasov to Sibiu Road, and will turn off on the 7C. This is going from the north to the south, so you can take your photos of the hairpin bends section after the waterfall. It's not like this... More

The place to get the famous picture of all the bends is on the north side. We drove north to south, and as you come to the last climb, you can stop at one of the pull offs and get all the zigzag hairpin bends in the... More
