Recently we have been to Avalabetta, there are 2 major things to remember. Parking is downside only, only way is either you have permission from forest department, not sure I guess 250/person or another way (chances are very less) if forest guard can favor you....More

It's not closed. If you go there you will get access for trekking from a small gate next to the main gate. It has a temple and for which people keep coming in. Worry not and trek.
