Good walk in nature, can be enjoyed at anytime in the year. There are places for camping or you can walk further to huts to stay overnight. The suggested walking time seems to based on really slow walkers, as I've always completed the walks in...More

Walked this area often and always enjoy it no matter what the conditions are, the motto be prepared, four seasons in one day., you have to take food and water. The bush as you walk the track is beautiful, different from any where else in...More

Have been doing this walk since I was a scout, has got easier over the years with track upgrades. Takes about 1.5 hours each way. Take a picnic with you to have when you reach the river.

A good walk in the bush down to the river. Nicely maintained track meant it was an easy walk for a mix of people with various fitness levels. Great picnic spots at the river. Basic but ok loos there too.

We love going to this slightly out of the way bush walk as it's never overcrowded. Even on a hot day it's cool in the bush and the tracks are wide and well maintained. The river is cold and delicious. Well worth a day trip.

A nice stroll through native bush, along well graded and gravelled tracks, from the Catchpool carpark 2.4km to the Orongorongo River. All water courses along the way are bridged. The bush is not virgin ie it has been felled in early European times and has...More

This well formed and maintained track takes you over to the Orongorongo river valley through mature forest. Not too demanding or if you have limited time.
