Thikse looks lovely in summers and winters alike each with its own weather charms. The monastery is absolutely beautiful and a must visit for the culturally inclined. Be vary of the opening and closing timings.

This monastery is serene and peaceful and has one of the biggest statues of Maitreya Buddha. Be prepared to climb a few steps and enjoy the views from there. They also have a gift shop and a cafeteria here. You can capture some great shots...More

We stayed at the Chamba Hotel just opposite the Thiksey Gompa. The rooms were large and the decor was nice as were the facilities. The best was its proximity to the Thiksey Gompa.
