Great place where you can feel the roman finger print in the middle east even 2000 years later. Besides the hypodrome, dont miss the great cementry from the later roman empire with incredible examples of roman funerary sculpture.

I've told everyone about my visit here - it's truly incredible that we can see such a huge and Epic piece of Roman history in 2018. Despite there being substantial missing parts (thanks to the Crusaders) you can still get a real sense of history...More

This is an extensive site and starts with lots of Roman tombs and sarcophagi - some of which sadly show the effects of looters, who could not lift the heavy lids and so smashed holes to get inside. The museum building on the site is...More

My only complaint here is that there is not enough information around to tell you what you are seeing. It would be nice to know what ruins you are looking at when walking around. Other than that the place is beautiful, its surreal walking around...More

The Al-Bass location with the Necropolis and Hippodrome were fascinating. I wish we would have hired a guide or read up more on the area. The uncovered Roman road and the restored arches were beautiful. The grounds of the hippodrome are expansive. We enjoyed seeing...More

A fantastic site. Well worth seeing. It was in the heat of July for us, not a good idea. I took hundreds of photos, I really enjoyed it.

This is an amazing place. I can spend hours here. Add to that the necropolis next to it and it is photographically fabulous. These days the track is used by joggers ... everything from full abayas and hijab to more regular athletic gear. Can't recommend...More

Dating from 3rd millennium BC, these complex archeological sites spread a street paved on each side of which are rows of large columns. Also a large Roman bathhouse and a rectangular arena everything in front of the mediterranean sea. The Hippodrome is located in Al-Bass...More
