Unforgettable!
Oct 2021
Our guide (Austin) was excellent, knowledgeable, engaging (even if he called our daughter, Beth, a boy ;-)), he was witty and made our visit very enjoyable. However the real stars are the aircraft themselves, quite incredible to be so close to these incredible pieces of history, even seeing them taking to the air!
Lest we forget.

Very enjoyable couple of hours spent here. Our guide, Austin, was very knowledgeable and entertaining, well worth the money. Only wish I had the £3,000 for a flight in the Spitfire!!

Outstanding Experience - A Petrolhead's Dream!
Sep 2021
My 45-Minute Experience was a secretly long-planned gift from my husband. Even before we arrived, Fly-A-Spitfire staff had impressed, with attention to detail via written communications and phone. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so very welcome, yet staff were also 'all business', ensuring we took seriously the safety issues involved being around a working hangar and its aircraft. The compulsory safety videos were able to be watched away from the bustle of the apron-viewing area, a subtle but essential detail, making it easier to concentrate on the serious nature of their content. The flight itself was a joy from start to finish: a petrolhead's dream. The obvious care of the aircraft by the groundcrew meant that the 1943 Spitfire felt rock solid, from climbing into the cockpit, engine start (*what* a rush!) and taking to the air. Pilot Adam's expert handling of this superb machine meant I had an idea of what she could really do: the Victory Roll over Beachy Head was accomplished with an ease and grace belying the awesome power of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Bragging rights reached new heights when I was permitted to 'take the spade' during the return to Biggin Hill.

I sincerely hope that I will be able to make a return trip to BHHH, if not to fly then to perhaps take in a 'Hangar Day', and ask even more questions! Huge thanks to everyone at Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar for providing us all (though especially me!) with an outstanding and unforgettable day.

Fantastic!

50 Minute Spitfire flight over the white cliffs of Dover. All on Battle of Britain day too!
I couldn't have wished for a better experience. It was al I had dreamed of and more!
All the staff were very friendly. I was guided through the various steps seamlessly.
Following introductions and the mandatory safety video, I was introduced to my pilot for the flight_ the wonderful Anna Walker.
Anna asked me about my flying history and what I would like to gain from the flight.
She then communicated excellently with me through the flight over the radio.
The whole experience from the roar of the Merlin on take off, the salute of tipping wings over the BoB monument, the victory roll, the identification of past BoB airfields was fantastic. But, nothing can eclipse, taking control briefly of this magnificent aircraft.
Boyhood dream fulfilled. What more can I say?
Tour of hangar after flight, was also very enjoyable and well worth the visit.

Absolutely amazing experience
Sep 2021
I can’t add much to the other highly rated reviews because they all reflect the excellence of these experiences. The staff/crew so friendly, dealing efficiently with the formalities etc, we were able to watch the flight before mine leave and I felt extremely relaxed. Like other reviews if you have guests the chaser plane option is absolutely worth the cost, my 3 family members really enjoyed their part of the experience, with the bonus of video recoding of flying alongside. I had the longer flight to Beachy Head and so glad I did, it gave a good amount of time to have a go at flying the Spitfire, what a marvellous plane.. After the flight a very interesting tour of the hangers to see the amazing work being carried on restoring and maintaining these beautiful planes.

A flight in a spitfire. Who could wish for more? An amazing experience. Do it, you won’t regret it. The staff were great throughout. Welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. As the weather is unpredictable, bring refreshments just in case you need to hang around. I bought this a retirement gift for myself and couldn’t have chosen anything better. Three days on and I’m still smiling and the envy of all my friends.

Watching as a wing was fitted to a Hurricane! Such a privilege and a rare opportunity! Amazing! Our tour guide was so enthusiastic, knowledgable and informative - his passion was infectious. We were not rushed, we were encouraged to ask questions.

We took my father as a treat for his 90th birthday - he loved it!
