Great walks along the river easy access from the caravan park. Plenty of bird life and canoes can be hired.

Very well presented park providing an abundance of sites for BBQs and family outings. Entry is $8 per vehicle, and there are plenty of areas to set up for the days outing. An excellent day out and highly recommended.

The parking fees are steep at $8. Even to have lunch at the cafe you need to pay the parking costs. The park has a lot of tracks and picnic grounds but it needs a lot of work to clean up the park and the river. The notices advising no swimming due to pollution should be enough to attempt some cleaning activities. There are fish in the river and ducks and birds a pity they are not in a cleaner environment. Walking past the hire boats no wonder they were not open, they are pretty shabby looking boats. They are visible snags and submerged debris it is probably not very safe taking to the water. Overall the park has promise and is a really nice space in the middle of built up suburban area. It needs a good clean up of dead plants etc preferably before the next bush fire season.

Easy to access by car or bus 545 or 559 from Chatswood. We accessed the Lane Cove National ParkPark via entrance off Lady Game Drive. Lovely expansive wide grass and bush areas with some paved walking tracks overlooking the Lane Cover River. There's a cafe on site and a small playground. Very leafy and an enjoyable pleasant environment with birds and wild bush turkeys roaming around.

The accessible part near the weir is very noisy (overshadowed by a main road, I don't enjoy picnics here) and has roads all through it, even to the extent that some parts don't have footpaths and force you to walk on a road. As soon as you get out of that area, though, there's a great valley to explore. Heading north, you quickly get into dense bushland and difficult, rocky paths - only problem is that the next river crossing is at the horrid De Burghs Bridge, making for a 10km/3hr loop back to the weir. You can of course follow the Great North Walk all the way north to the far-flung parts of the national park near Thornleigh and Pennant Hills. Going south, you can walk to Hunters Hill via the lowlands with vast stretches of mangroves - only problem here is the flight path overhead.
