I drove this (and survived) in a hired 4x4. You need a 4x4 to get down the track although it isn’t as treacherous as the Florence Bay track. It was the perfect place to go and see sunset. I arrived about 30 minutes before sunset...More

West Point beach is really off the beaten track, as you have to drive on a narrow bumpy road to get to it, and some hire cars don’t let you drive on it so you need to hire a 4wd. It is well worth it...More

At the end of a very average dirt road, just a collection of houses and a lovely deserted beach. Great views to the North of Townsville, and amazing view at sunset. Nothing there - so take your own everything!

We thought to travel out to West Point as a lot of locals said there is some pretty rough places to check out but be careful.. we didn’t think much of it, the one person out there was nice! The beach itself is pretty run...More

To get there is only for four wheel drive as some of the road is unsealed. Nice quiet beach and we barely seen anybody.

When we visit Maggie we always try to get to West point for a sunset. Take a drink and a snack and savour the view. There's always a few people there but only a "few". Well worth the drive@
