A walk and view to relax from stressful life
Aug 2019 • Family
If you are in Caserta, it is definitely worth to drive up the hill and then, after parking at the entrance of the old town, take a nice walk to the center of the Old Caserta. You will walk in narrow and cozy streets, till you get to the central square with its Dome.
The atmosphere and the site will offer relaxation to your heart and brain, and a view to remember.
Do not forget to take a look at the wonderful view of the Gulf of Naples!

Great photo op!

There is a suspended piece of art behind the alter of Christ on the cross and the lighting on it is great. It's a beautiful little Duomo and a "must see" if you visit the village.

Old church in latin cross plan , the construction started in 1129 and finished somewhere between 1137-1164. It is all decorated with animal and floral elements typical of the regions medieval style.

Beautiful Cathedral
Feb 2018 • Solo
The Cathedral built during the 12th century in the Romanesque style has a beautiful bell-tower under which runs a small alleyway and an interesting interior. Most of the columns are roman in origin, and several decorations are early christian and byzantine in style, such as the pulpit(very similar to that in Salerno's, Ravello and Amalfi's Cathedrals).

Medieval
Aug 2018
It’s wonderful that everything is done to ensure the building preserves it medieval identity. Embellishment is kept to the minimum just as it’s original state. Salut !

Beautiful church tucked away from most tourists. We got lucky and found this city, church and a fabulous restaurant on the hill

A True Medieval Gem
Dec 2016 • Friends
One of the most impressive examples of Romanesque / Norman inspired buildings in the region. The building seems reminiscent of eastern inspired architecture (octagonal apse, and repeating arch patterns in the façade, for example). Beautiful inlaid marble floors, especially beautiful is the floor of the upper altar. Have a look at the ambo / pulpit, with capitals showing images of birds and fruit. Situated in a piazza from which multiple medieval streets radiate. Well worth a visit. Make time to wander the steep side streets and admire the interesting medieval façades. And stop by Pasticceria Marchesina several steps from the cathedral for a coffee and freshly baked sweets.

Not so special
Nov 2017 • Couples
Long uphill drive on decent road to reach the old town. Easy parking and then a gentle uphill walk to the town. The church is on a small quiet square. Interior of the church is nothing special. Small adjacent plain chapel. Pleasant to visit, but not a show stopper. The rest of the old town was mostly restaurants and pretty small walking streets.
