Canique Falls were not all that impressive in and of themselves. Perhaps they would be more impressive after heavy rains, when they would gush a little more. However, they are located in a remote and beautiful area which makes the trip out here quite an adventure.
The falls are set in a patch of thick forest, more like jungle really, on the side of a mountain. The dense vegetation at the site is wrapped in vines, and ferns and palms flourish everywhere. The rainforest setting more than makes up for the diminutive size of the waterfalls; a trip here is a way to see some natural forest in a good state of preservation. The paths down to the falls are very overgrown and the place feels almost abandoned. Come with a guide from Taytay.

The falls are quite difficult to find and for sure it is best to visit during the rainy season. There is a sign for the falls a kilometer or so before you reach the town. While in the area don't forget to take the road before the school and drive down to the sea where the pier is located. Here you will see a hundred fishing bangkas in the shallow water, as well as fish farms.
