We did a turtle and island hopping tour. Great communication and the tour arranged to a great detail at a very short notice. We were snorkelling and have seen many turtles and the beautiful reef. Delicious lunch on the boat with seafood and fruits prepared by our guide Lalai who with the whole crew looked after us and was very accommodating. I would recommend the tour and their service. Thank you and best wishes from Magdalena, Aggie and Peter.

We are so appreciative of the Palawan experience we had through Malampaya Ecotours. While planning our trip from overseas, we were interested in putting together a variety of adventures that the magical island of Palawan has to offer-in particular, birding, the Underground River, mangroves, and some island hopping. Ivan was so helpful in customizing our plan. He provided excellent recommendations that enabled us to have an authentic Palawan experience. We began with birding in the forest around Puerto Princesa.Jonel our bird guide was so dedicated, experienced, friendly and professional. We saw so many endemic birds because of Jonel‘s firsthand knowledge of the best birding spots. We had a very comfortable van with Palawan‘s best driver Basil. I can’t even describe how special our experience was the Underground River. Somehow Malampaya Ecotours gets you into the park hours before the crowds arrive. We were able to do some birding seeing more lifers having the entire area to ourselves. Such a different experience from others who have to wait in line for hours just to get to the park. And then more birding with Jonel in the nearby mangroves, beaches and environs. In Taytay, we had an authentic Filipino experience island hopping and kayaking in the mangroves. We had entire gorgeous islands to ourselves, snorkeling among some of the best coral in the Philippines, and eating amazing meals prepared by Lalai. Kudos to Lika, Marson, and Atul. What we appreciate most about our tours was that we were the only ones so we could experience the magic Palawan without any crowds. When our tour finished, we went on to El Nido by ourselves. We found El Nido to be far more expensive and very crowded. We didn’t even try to do any of the El Nido A B C D tours since we had done similar things in Taytay, but without the throngs of noisy tourists. As for a price, we found it to be very reasonable. Some reviews note that you could probably find cheaper prices, but you get what you pay for. Do you want an authentic Palawan experience shared with you and your companion? Or do you want to stand in line and be on a crowded beach with other tourist? If you really want a once a lifetime experience that is so memorable try Malampaya Ecotours

With Malampaya Ecotours, we did a 4-day boat expedition (Taytay-Iloc-Linapacan), and then a day of birdwatching in Sabang (including the Underground River National Park). Overall we had a great time, and the service provided was top notch – we were treated like kings!
Positive points:
- Healthiest coral reefs, clearest waters, and unique scenery in Palawan
- Off-the-beaten-path experience, away from touristic destinations, focusing more on wildlife
- Authentic experiences and encounters with locals
- Excellent food
- Very kind and accommodating guides on the boat, we really felt taken care of!
- Birdwatching guide was trying really hard to find the birds!

Negative points:
- Lack of scientific expertise on the boat tours was a bit disappointing (given the price) – maybe more training of the guides suggested, or adding books about wildlife and marine life?
- The tent was very small, so expect minimal comfort
- Honestly TOO PRICEY for the Philippines standards, even with the amazing service and the fact that everything is included – we hope the local community benefits from it...

We still recommend this company and would trust them again while bargaining the price. :)

We used Malampaya twice, once for birding, the other for dolphin watching.

Birding was done at Lake Manguao. We were given the option (at extra cost) of an expert bird guide from Puerto Princesa, but opted for the local community guide, whose knowledge sufficed for our purposes - we’re enthusiastic but part-time twitchers. But the Malampaya guide was necessary for translating. The tour involved an outing on the lake in a somewhat rough and ready motorised boat. The forest is absolutely stunning from the water and we saw huge flocks of Philippine and Tufted ducks, and several raptors. That was followed by a roadside forest walk, highlight sightings being Shama, Paradise Flycatcher and Palawan Hornbill. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

The dolphin trip was less successful. Done in the expansive Malampaya Sound in a traditional bangka it involved long hours of sitting on not the most comfortable wooden planks, sometimes in roughish waters. (The weather stopped us doing a trip in Taytay bay which we had wanted to do.) Disappointingly no dolphins were seen - but that’s neither here nor there; they’re wildlife after all, and one shouldn’t expect to see them. We then proceeded to an idyllic beach (bar the trash left by locals) for a snorkel in turquoise waters and lunch: freshly caught fish bought at an island we stopped at cooked on the fire. One of the tastiest meals we had in the Philippines. The guide Lalai couldn’t be faulted. All in all highly recommended.

We booked 8 different tours with Ivan for more then 140k Peso. After coming to Palawan we realised we have been charged 10 times more then the actual price with same facility and same service provider. Then I cancelled 3 of my tours with him. I must warn others please check the rate with local operators before you book any tour with Ivan. He is not even based in Philippines and asked to transfer the payment in Spain. He did not even show up in any of the tours which he never mentioned while making the booking.

He consider his service and crew different and apparently he outsourced and use local guides and service provider which you can do on your own with very little effort and save tons of money.

I would say '' A total scam'' but by the time you realise it. It's too late.

Good luck 🤞

I had the BEST time on my island tour with Malampaya! It was truly beautiful, and totally isolated compared to El Nido and Port Barton. If you want authentic, unique and off the beaten track experiences, this is the one to do! I feel sad that not more people are visiting Taytay but grateful I got to experience something so special.

Lalai, Marjone and the captain were SO good and so professional, kind and fun. Lalai and Marjone are now my friends :) We had a great time and I felt so well looked after and considered, particularly as a solo female traveller.

Elephant island is breathtakingly beautiful, the secret lagoon is MAGICAL and feels truly secret. Lunch was delicious, cooked by the captain and his adorable family.

Snorkeling in Taytay is stunning and the visbility was perfection. I would 110% recommend this tour to anyone who likes paradise and quiet.

As I was solo it was a little expensive but SO worth it and Ivan was really clear about what the money was going towards, so I was happy to pay that.

Thank you for the best experience ever!

Elnido used to be my lifetime destination, but unfortunately the corals there were almost dying... So we decided to visit Taytay seeking for more alive corals. Our decision was right!!
We did 1 day island hopping tour with Malampaya Ecotour, and it exceeded our expectations! I've joined ones in Elnido and Coron, but the tour with Malampaya was by far the best!!
Ivan responded so timely and precisely to all my questions before the trip. On the tour day, Laila and other crew took care of us so professionally. We've traveled a lot and joined many nature tours, but this was one of the best experiences from start to finish.
All the destinations during the tour were amazing and every island had different types of corals and fish, so we couldn't help snorkeling all day. Also, the lunch served on the island was the most delicious food we've had in the Philippines.
Taytay's corals are so alive and colorful. We did scuba diving in Sibaltan the day before, but the corals in Taytay were almost the same as ones in Sibaltan, and the difference is Taytay's corals are only in the snorkel-able depth!
We visited Taytay in mid August, which was supposed to be rainy season, but luckily we had great weather. Even if it rains, it will stop in 20min, so it doesn't bother your tour.
Hope Taytay will not become like El Nido...
Big thanks to Laila, Ivan and other crew! We will definitely come back soon for the expedition tour with you guys!

Ivan was an amazing tour guide! Some of our favourite days of our trip to the Philippines were spent with Malampaya Ecotours in TayTay. He has great knowledge on local flora and fauna and had much to teach us. We did a jungle and lake tour and enjoyed it so much we extended our stay and booked an island tour for the next day.
This wasn’t your average island hopping tour. The team went above and beyond to create a memorable experience. We were taken to the most beautiful, natural, less touristy locations and given quality gear to use (snorkel, mask, fins, kayaks, towels...). His partner made us some of the most delicious food we had on the trip and lots of it. The entire team was exceptional. We are budget backpackers and paid more than other tours available in the area. We are so glad we did and will never forget our experience in TayTay. 100% would recommend this hidden gem, luxury, sustainable ecotour with Malampaya.

First off, skip the insanely polluted El Nido and come to Tay Tay! It's authentic, friendly and is a proud city. If you're looking for a professional, hospitable and no b.s. tour guide... Ivan and his crew will give you just that. Not once in the 2 day, overnight adventure did we feel they gave us anything less than what we paid for. The laughs were genuine, the food was amazing and the selected activities were exactly what we were looking for. The highlights for me was staying on the boat overnight in the mangroves and the lush sea grass on one of the coral sites. Did I mention the corals were in abundance and undamaged or the open water had very minimal amounts of plastic in Tay Tay? We were there 5 days and the only place we saw tourists were at the hotel we were staying. Don't skip this place and definitely reach out to Ivan.
