About
Located in Falmouth, Sainte Famille is one of Nova Scotia's oldest wineries. We have vinted award winning wines for over 25 years from the beauty and warmth of our estate vineyard. Our wines celebrate the distinctly coastal terroir that has been coaxed from the earth, the sun and the very vines that anchor us in scenic Falmouth N.S... We invite you to join us and enjoy one of two patio areas, each with their own stunning views. Our friendly staff will assist you with both tasting and tours. The gift shop offers unique, locally sourced items, as well as our complete wine profile. Our Pavilion area is excellent for weddings and other gatherings. We offer speciality tours that will introduce you to Nova Scotia wines and include a truly unique experience with our wine maker, Tony Barkhouse. Sainte-Famille continues to proudly produce Tidal Bay, the signature white wine of Nova Scotia.

Nice wedding here
Jul 2019 • Couples
The place is really nice and well used. We attended several wedding. Here The staff are efficient and the food was really good. They have a barn and kitchen for events. Never got to do the tour as it was off season but I hear they do them. Wine is very nice and well priced. View is spectacular. Call ahead for an in season tour

A pleasant venue for a quick tasting.
Wines being poured were ok but not outstanding.
The attention and service was excellent.
We purchased only a few bottles.

Enjoyed more wines here than anywhere during Nova Scotia trip
Jun 2017 • Couples
My husband and I toured four wineries during our quick 5 night drive through Nova Scotia, and the wines at Sainte Famille are the ones we enjoyed the most. We took the Falmouth exit as we were driving from Wolfville to Halifax on a rainy day in late June, and we were very glad we did. The young man who presented the tasting was very knowledgeable about the wines, and very friendly. We bought three bottles of wine here, and both agreed that the winemaker is talented. We enjoyed the Cabernet Foch and the L'Acadie Blanc the best.

A Gem

Wineries in Nova Scotia are trying hard and this one is succeeding! Nice L'Acadie grape wines and some surprises in the reds. Very nice Cab-Foch and L'Acadie Blanc. $15-16 a bottle range. In BC they would be $20 and in California they would be $30-$35.00. Easy views of the vineyard and of the Wine making equipment. Worth a look.

Excellent Wine and Just-The-Right-Size Winery
Sep 2016 • Couples
This winery was a delightful stop, a great way to introduce us to Nova Scotia wines, and at a more friendly and manageable scale than the more well-known and bigger production Grand Pre wineery further into the Anapolis Valley. They have a large selection of both whites and reds, including a delightful version of Tidal Bay. If you're not familiar with that wine, it's a white blend that a large number of Nova Scotia wineries have cooperated to produce as a unique vintage to the area, with stringent rules regarding its production and even an external tasting panel to ensure that the resulting wine is worthy of being labeled as Tidal Bay. The Sainte-Famille Tidal Bay is brighter and crisper than some others we tried, with a heady, almost piney nose that I really enjoyed. Their sparkling rose is worth a purchase, too, but the one I enjoyed the most was their Reserve Marchelle Foch red varietal.
The service in the tasting room was wonderful and the woman who poured for us was both friendly and knowledgeable.
We also enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch on their outdoor patio overlooking the surrounding countryside, enjoying a glass of their wine and taking in the late September sunshine.
Highly recommended as a stop, though I do recommend using your smartphone's navigation app to find it - the winery is a few roads and turns off the freeway.

Worth getting off the highway for!

On a recent visit to the Annapolis Valley wine country I stopped in to check out Sainte Famille and found it charming and inviting. It was early in the day so it wasn't yet busy so I was able to savour my tasting flight and talk about the wines I was sampling and NS wines in general. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating and the wines to exceptionally good and very moderately priced. It was explained to me that they price their wines to make great wine affordable to all wine lovers. I would definitely agree that their wines are of the highest quality and extremely affordable with almost all their wines priced between $10-20 per bottle. The winery is definitely worth stopping in to on any visit to the area and it's worth noting that they open the earliest of any of the wineries (9:30am) which is convenient if you're looking to get an early start on a day trip out of Halifax.

The tour was okay to check out the different grapes, but the tasting is the best part. I wasn't disappointed even one style. 4 for $5, but I suggest trying more.

We enjoyed our visit here where we got a brief history and tour of the vineyards. We really enjoyed the 2013 Tidal Bay! A short distance from Halifax and a nice peaceful location!

Great wine...not the best location for a wedding!
Jul 2015
I went to a wedding there and they served the wine that was delicious. For the wedding part of it we had about 120 people so next to no place for a dance floor that was also uneven. The food was served by a local caterer hired by the bride and groom and food was good. I was not a fan of the bugs in the venue....the room we were in had screens but the doors were wide open letting in all the bugs.

Love this Winery!!
Aug 2014 • Friends
We had our wedding at Sainte-Famille this summer and it was the absolute perfect venue for a DIY bride!! Suzanne and her staff are just incredible and overly accommodating to deal with. We had compliments all night about how pretty the space is, inside and out, and how great the wine is!! The location is perfect- just minutes outside Windsor and less than a hour to Halifax. It is close enough that half our guests were able to drive home that evening and the others stayed in Windsor or surrounding areas. Thank you Sainte-Famille for helping make our wedding so special and memorable!!
