The ballad to el Cielo from the center is extremely depressing with tons of garbage and badly treated horses everywhere. The end point was definitely not worth it, the view isn’t that great and there is not a “cascada” but just a tiny pool that...More

Can’t recommend this highly enough. Such a stunning jungle hike with river crossings (ankle deep) ending with a gorgeous fresh water pool at the top, with rubber dinghies and a zip line for a really fun and refreshing time! Bring cash for the $3,000 entrance...More

After extensively traveling South and Central America, you see many waterfalls and natural pools. So it is easy to disregard places and benchmark. I left Capurgana in search of El Cielo just for a bit of exercise and the prospect of a refreshing swim. My...More

It is highly recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear is a long hike but the site is beautiful and you can see some local wildlife along the way

Long walk, but totally worth it if you manage to go when it's not full of people. Where tennis shoes as you will have to cross the river 7 times and it is full of rocks.

My friends and I very much enjoyed the hike to El Cielo. The pools were small and we agreed that it would have been more fun to swim if we had visited after a big rainstorm. Overall it was worth the trek.

We hiked here with our kids (ages 8 and 10) and it was wonderful. Wear shoes that can get wet! It's incredibly lush and green -- it kind of feels like something out of a movie. Absolutely must do if you're in Capurgana.

We preferred the new "El Trebol" location. Closer to the village and brand new. Follow the same road but take a right at the sign. The jungle around El Cielo is magnificent though and the 13 river crossings a fun challenge if you want to...More
