Nice trekking climbing a mount to see a salty lake on the top, where dani people prepare a food with banana tree stalk.

It was a hard steep climb up a so called trail. It was muddy, scrambling over rocks and very slippery. It takes over an hour to climb. Interesting once you get to the top how they get their salt.

Thankfully we had paid a couple of local ladies to show the process of harvesting the salt, otherwise it was a steep, tough couple of hours up the mountain to a very small pool of water next to a stream.

The Baliem Valley Festival in Papua will be held in village of Dani. During this festival of baliem valley i also recommend you to do a little trek in baliem valley, Local agency already provided in the special schedule trips on August 2015.
