My wife and I had the chance to visit Sumatra/Indonesia, last month. The high light of the the whole stay was the jungle trekking we did in Bukit Lawang area. The trekking was for two days, organized by Bukit Lawang - Jungle Trekking - Sumatra.
We got to see a number of Orang-utans and other monkeys. The two day trip was well planned, delicious food and clean water was provided during the whole trip. A clean and a safe cottage where we spent a night was well arranged. I will definitely recommend Adi Lugman and his organization, Bukit Lawang - Jungle Trekking - Sumatra to join such a trip.

An experience of a lifetime. I had been planning this trip for too long and not even my best dreams were close to what it was.
Adi and his team are amazing. Watching the orangutans so close and in their habitat is a unique feeling. There is only one advice for everyone thinking about it: hop on a plane and go now!!!

Very friendly host called Adi. We did a two day tour. The team was very nice and kind. They did everything in their power to make you feel comfortable. Head guide Ian was very lovely and his English was perfect!

Overall a very good experience. Nice people, nice food and a very beautiful jungle.

In a word, beautiful. Adi and his team prepared a perfect experience for us. We chose a three day trek from the menu and stayed in the rainforest in a beautiful tree house.
We saw the animals in their natural habitat. It's not a zoo, so we had to walk to find the orangutans. It's a great feeling.
To the tree house we waded through the river, swam under a waterfall, watched toucans, orangutans, macaques and other species of monkeys. Our guides prepared food for us, carried our backpacks when we were exhausted, played games with us, and did things for us when they saw us.
The best part of the whole trip was that they didn't force anything on us, they didn't rush us anywhere, everything was completely natural and calm.
I think that if we hadn't met an orangutan we would still be in the rainforest today. :) Their dream is to make you happy.

We spent a total of 1 week at Adi's family and our whole stay at Adi's family was amazing! Adi arranged for us to pick up and drop off from the airport and immediately solved all the problems with the delayed flight and picking up our friends. We spent 3 days and 2 nights in the jungle with Adi's guides. The guides took very good care of us, explained the local customs and how to behave in the jungle. On the first day in the jungle we saw many species of monkeys, birds and various animals from the fauna and flora kingdom. The highlight of our first day was meeting the orangutans. They were so close to us that we couldn't believe it. The conclusion of the first day of the jungle trek was a long-awaited swim in the Bohorok river. The next day, Adi's team took us on a nice jungle tour and swimming in a waterfall. In the jungle, we spent the night in the Tree House, where we were very well taken care of. Great sleep on a mattress with a mosquito net, all food and drink was perfect. In the evenings, the guides and I had a good time, played various games, did magic, danced and sang by the fire, told stories.
On the morning of the third day, we woke up surrounded by many small monkeys (Macaques), who entertained us for a long time until we finished breakfast. At the end of our trek, we floated on inflatables (a local raft) out of the jungle back to Bukit Lawang village. It was amazing and fun. The following days, Adi and his team took us everywhere we needed to go. We went souvenir shopping with them, took us to a nice restaurant for a meal, and enjoyed live music in the evening with the local community. We spent the last evening (Christmas Day) with Adi's family, playing guitar and singing. It is incredible how Adi and his family were able to transfer their energy and well-being to us. We felt at home with them!
In addition, Adi and his family take care of the education of local children and build a local school for them (in Indonesia even elementary school is paid for and not all families with children have the means to send their children to school).
So if you decide to visit North Sumatra and Bukit Lawang, I highly recommend Adi's family and his team.

Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to Adi and his family, Adi's sister Ita and her husband, and of course Adi's guide team (Edi the guide leader, Malik - Adi's son and Jenda - the guide and cook).

Thank you very much, we always remember and hope to see you again someday!

Adi is great!! He was so welcoming and picked me up from the local bus and was happy to take me around when needing a lift. He is such a lovely person, putting together food packages for locals and currently building a school to teach English to the local children for free. Because of building I stayed at his sisters home stay which was lovely. She is also amazing and such a lovely person to meet. Adi organised me to be on a tour and the guide i went with was incredible. Definitely ask him who i was with as it was so much fun. I did the 2 day 1 night tour of which i saw 12 orangutans, gibbons, Thomas leaf monkeys and fire flys. I loved it. The food was delicious as well. Especially the dinner in the jungle in the camp.

We had an absolutly amazing time on this trek! We were able to see so many animals, and we were able to see them with amazing guides who took the time to tell us about the animals! We were able to go at our own pace and stop and look at things when we wanted to. It was very easy to book through WhatsApp and the team was all great and very welcoming! The treehouse was really great and it was a beautiful place to spend the night. I can’t recommend this group enough!

I can highly recommend the guide, Adi his team. He is the best guide and the original from Sumatra. Because of his knowledge I was able to see a lot of orangutans from very closeby without interupting the animals. It was the best experience ever!

I had a wonderful excursion with Adi and his team. I did the 2d1n, we saw 3 orangutans and many other monkeys. Adi has been doing this for 30 years and yet, he was almost more excited to see the orangutans than me, this truly shows his love for his job. Adi is just a great person with a good heart, and I felt safe and well taken care of, as a solo female traveler this was very important.
The hike can be challenging, if it rains it gets slippery so good hiking shoes are recommended. The night in the jungle is beautiful and adventurous, a cool camping/outdoor experience with excellent food prepared by Adi’s wife. And the rafting back on the water is just a perfect, fun way to finish the hike.
Of course, do not expect to have the whole jungle for yourself. There are other people trekking and you meet them, and if there is an orangutan, it is the case that you share the experience with 10-20 other people. And do not expect a luxurious experience, it is an adventure, with also the opportunity to see real, local Indonesian life.
