We stopped here on our way from Whistler to Vancouver. Great for a couple of hours, mine tour was spoilt though by two under 3’s who obviously found the experience too much, and their mothers chose not to take them out ,despite being told of the easy exit routes 3 times by the guide, who was very good but didn’t feel she could insist , a pity as it did inhibit the rest of us hearing the full tour. This is a great place for kids, but under 3’s should be removed from the mine tour if they are distressed , not kept in by mothers wanting o get their full experience at other’s expense. Parents please consider other visitors, not just your own.

We were looking for something to do to kill time on the way down the mountain from Whistler to Vancouver, and this was definitely the right choice!

We have two young kids between the ages of 5-10 and I was worried the younger one would be bored and squirmy, but everything worked great!

The tour:
-You take about a 5 minute train ride inside a tunnel to the inside of the mine. Our tour guide at 1:30 was excellent! Give that guy a raise!! The tour was informative, interactive, and really made you experience what it feels like to work inside a mine. If you are very claustrophobic, I might avoid this part of the museum though. He shows you what it was like to drill in a mine, he turns off the lights to show you how dark it was to work in them, etc. Like I said, it was enough interactive stuff to keep my 5-year-old interested.
-The gold panning was the best part for my kiddos. They could've stayed there for an hour. You basically sift for small jewels/gold in the sand, and you can actually keep whatever you find.
-The BOOM! show wasn't operating at the time, so unfortunately, we didn't get to experience that.
-All in all, we probably spent a couple of hours there, or close to it, and it was a great experience to try out.

First visit to the mine museum even though I've lived in Vancouver for a long time. It was really fun. The guide was excellent, the interactive show was really good and it was very informative. Thoroughly recommend it .. great for kids and adults.

We visited Britannia Mine Museum and we were amazed by the professionalism and expertise of the on-ground team and the quality of services offered. The guide on tour was very knowledgeable and friendly; She gave us a comprehensive overview of the mine's history and significance as a major source of copper in its time. Highly recommend.

Outstanding museum experience! Whether you are a rockhound, history buff, in to big machinery, or fancy a fun stop along the sea-to-sky highway, this is THE place to visit. The tour guide gave a polished and highly informative journey through mine and mill that was for all ages. Panning for stones and the odd gold flake in an outdoor heated trough on a sunny November day was fantastic. Highly recommend this tourist stop for all.

A review dated 8th October 2022 matches our opinion of this tour.
Apart from a very small child (too young to understand where they were) it was an all adult audience. The train ride is very short and not deep into the mine. Maybe our guide was very new and inexperienced but the talk about the tools used etc. was very childish and amateurish. i.e the 3-2-1 countdown to cover your ears before (with one exception) a not very loud noise.

As the other review stated, the saving grace was BOOM in the 20 story mill. Suddenly theme park style videos etc. tell you interesting facts in an engaging way.

Great family friendly venue. The site is well organized and there are lots of things to interest both adults and children. The staff were super friendly and engaging. I went with my 7 year old nephew and they made a point of speaking directly to him and asking him questions. We did the mine tour and the Boom experience and both were really interesting and engaging. I learned a lot!

We were driving by and saw the museum and thought it'd be interesting. We were right! Chris was our guide and did an awesome job explaining and telling us all about the history and lives that have gone through the mine and mill. Thank you Chris!

The mine tour was awesome! Our guide Chris was very informative, interesting and entertaining. We loved the BOOM show as well. It was fascinating learning about the history of the mine and hearing what it was actually like when the mill was running. We also had a fun time panning for gold and visiting the other buildings. Highly recommend a visit!
