Very close from Prague, this royal castle offers more than just a view. I strongly recommend to go for one of the guided tours (suggest rather during spring or summer as winter can really freeze you up between the stone walls). With rich commentary you...More

I loved this detour from a road trip through eastern Europe. The castle is remarkably well maintained, and the town at the base of the hill is quite quaint. It's quite a hike from the parking lot up the hill to the castle, but it's...More

Our private guide, Pavel Cernosek, took us to Karlstejn Castle at our request. It is a beautiful location. We choose to walk from the mandatory parking lot to the Castle. It is at the end of a steep 2 km walk through the town of...More

Give yourself a full day, it's worth it. We bought a ticket that lets you into all main buildings but not exhibitions which suited us. We would not recommend a seperate visit to the church up the hill, expensive and boring

The castle is an easy one hour ride from Prague. It's another 20-minute walk uphill, which is nice on a good day. I saw horse-drawn carts going up the hill if you don't want to walk yourself. The castle has an interesting history. It's not...More

My partner treated me to a visit to this historic Czech Castle just after Christmas. The castle can easily be reached by train from Prague and is a 45 minute ride. Once you arrive in Karlstejn, it is about a 15minute walk from the train...More

We loved this place and the staff who run the tour in the castle were good but spoke a bit fast to get groups through the rooms. Definitely worth a trip out of Prague to see the countryside and this breathtaking place with so many...More
