The location of the monastery is eerily beautiful. It is an old monastery, with lovely interiors.. and in the middle of insanely beautiful landscape.. There is marmot land around the monastery area, which was of more interest to me..:-)

This is a quaint and quiet Monastery at the entrance to the Zanskar valley. The monastery afforded us a birds eye view of Middle School Rangdum. The view of the surrounding valley is breathtaking from the monastery. Would wish that there were more monks and...More

One of the oldest monosteries in Ladakh , Rangdum is mid way between Kargil & Zanskar - 125 km's from Kargil town. Nun Kun peaks & nomads grazing herds of cattle falls in route; treck back over Parkachik pass 2 get a feel of mild...More

This monastery sits on a small isolated hilltop with great views in every direction, up multiple valleys. The rock formations nearby are fascinating and beautiful. The drive out there is tough (all day from Kargil), but interesting (you'll see Nun and Kun and more). We...More

Rangdum monastery is at the halfway point in a 2-day journey between Kargil and Padum in Zanskar. Unless you want to drive all night, you have to stop over at the campsite below the monastery. The gompa itself should not be missed, full of lovely...More

Rangdum lies on a fantastic location on a small hill in a wide valley. You can sleep in a basic but well orientated camp at the foot of the hill. Monastery is still very authentic and ideal for overnight stop on the road to Padum.
