In a lovely position right by the surfing beech. Very interesting to learn about prehistoric man and they way they lived and hunted. Everything was in French so a knowledge of French is an advantage. A very interesting visit

First time to see a beaker pot and wrist bracer! The exhibits are laid out well, in chronological order. Recent information that distinguishes beaker period from late Neolithic should be reflected in the presentations, including the translations. Very very interesting all the same.

The building is a little tired (although it may be replaced soon I gather) and the labeling of the exhibits could do with a refresh (also on the way I believe, and I know how much a new labeled case costs so feel guilty mentioning this) and the bit about skull shapes doesn't accord with the latest research BUT this is a very important collection of prehistoric artifacts - if it isn't in Paris it is here - out here at the end of the world and is definitely worth seeing. In a world where so many museums are becoming computer generated interactive experiences this is the real thing. An English language folder with more information is available from the desk and is definitely worth borrowing - the reception warned it is for professionals, which I suppose I am, but it wasn't that technical.

Definitely worth a look. We found the trepanned sculls fascinating. Impressive collection of axe and arrow heads. Guided cycle tours are also available to visit sites away from the museum, though unfortunately we had to cancel ours due to heavy rain.
