Shame about the missing head of the devil supporting the water vessel but in some ways quite refreshing that it has not been replaced. Good parking and the atmosphere and aroma is absorbing.

The history of the church is really interesting as to how such a wonderful building was built in such a small village. Where did the money come from? Very interesting to visit

The historical past of Rennes le Chateau is fantastic, it has ancient occupation and links to the Merovingians, Templars and more recently Berenger Sauniere. I would suggest everyone starts by reading Holy Blood / Holy Grail. Whilst much of the information is now out dated,...More

On a very hot day, we found the church by chance. Although the village was bustling with visitors (presumably looking for Dan Brown), the church was empty. It really is beautiful, the statues and windows are really worth seeing. More than just a tourist site...More

Very colourfully decorated church in a pretty village where history abounds with rumour and intrigue. To fully appreciate the church (and the village) you must read about the place, Rennes-le-Chateau, even so it is very interesting.

In Rennes-le-Chateau, we toured the church, Eglise Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, with our small group. The church is relatively small and has a pregnant Madonna and stained-glass windows. Inside, it's very photogenic and well worth a visit.

I felt an ominous feeling while in here. Something "terrible" ;). Sadly a woman in a full burka, not even a Muslim, just a French protestor, smashed a lot of stuff with an axe, in protest to the area lot letting enough Syrian refugees in......More

Tiny church but with some beautiful sculptures. Worth a quick peek and it is free. No flash photography which was totally ignored by some.
