Daku island is the largest of the three included in the island hopping tour and the only place you can buy lunch for the day. I’ve heard you can buy your own food from the market and bring it to have it grilled for the fee, however, I just bought straight from the grill which I felt was much more expensive. There is a 50 peso per person entry fee which I thought was so unnecessary considering all the money we spent for the tour (1500 pesos) and lunch (1900 for 2 ppl). Overall, the water is crowded with boats and the land is crowded with people, grills and huts for rent (250 pesos). The water is nice but the overpricing and overcrowding are a no for me.

If you are a Filipino who has traveled pretty much everywhere in the country, do not set your hopes too high. Siargao's islands are getting extremely hyped up by these annoying foreign social media influencers and a lot of the drone shots and photos are too perfect. This is not what you'll see in person. And again if you are a well-traveled local, you may probably have seen this before. While there's nothing wrong with that, I feel like these foreigners hype Siargao so much to the point that you might expect more when you do the island tours. Dako Island in particular has a cool vibe and has the most beautiful blue waters. But we've seen this before. It doesn't make Siargao allegedly No. 1 in Asia.

Did the Naked, Dako and Guyam tour and really enjoyed the day. The three islands are slightly different but all gorgeous. I think that the trick is to have a good have a good tour host and boat guy, otherwise you're just fighting with the crowd. Our guys (PM me if you want their contact details since I don't think they allow posting them here) were fantastic at getting us to the island(s) before the onslaught of tourists were there - esp for Dako since this is a lunch stop and it takes them a while to cook things. There are a bunch of seafood options for cooks to grill for you, but you have to "rent" the bungalows where you sit to eat and they itemize everything down to the charcoal. It's not expensive, but interesting that they don't just come up with an inclusive charge. There is beer & water for sale but little else to drink except for orange soda. Our guys were also great about watching our possessions while we were out swimming so that we didn't have to worry about getting things nabbed by other tourists.

Dako Island is truly spectacular! We rented a new double kayak really cheap from a place called Siargao Kayaks on Siargao. We left at about 6am in the morning. The water was calm and you could see your reflection in the crystal clear water. The trip over only took 25 mins and was amazing enough but when we arrived we couldn't believe our eyes. The beach is like something you see on a postcard with white powdery sand and coconut tress. Without a doubt, Dako had the best swimming beach of all the islands we visited while we explored Siargao. There is fantastic snorkeling near the surf spot and around the southern tip of the island. We watched some surfers catching waves and we found an amazing big private grassy area to relax. The island has a cool vibe and island culture. Walking through the village is like a step back in time. Amazing place. A must see!

I love the PH and this was a first for me, never happened before. It all started when we hired the boat for the island hopping tour. The guide told us that we could buy lunch at the beach or bring our own food and they would cook it for us over there, so we did buy it ourselves. Some seafood and rice.
This is when it starts to get interesting. As usual, they charged us with a entrance fee to the island of 100 pesos. Then it just got annoying. They said they would charge us around 100 pesos per kilo of food cooked, we had around 4 kilos divided by 4 people, not bad. But when the bill arrived we were shocked to find these hilarious charges: ingredients: 400 pesos, charcoal (really?): 250 pesos and TABLE fee: 100 pesos. So apparently ingredients (lemon marinade for the fish and maybe water to boil the rice we brought) dont count in the cooking charge. Disgusting
So at the end we payed up more for the food than the tour itself. Ridiculous. And the worst part is that both the guide and the "restaurant" hid this information from us. My recommendation, just grab some tacos from the Mexican restaurant next to the pier and forget about these scammers. Enjoy the island which yes, its beautiful, nice beach.
P.S: Out of curiosity I went to the market to check the price of charcoal and who guessed it. it cost 35 pesos for a big bag of it, more than enough for a nice bbq. and they wanted to charge us 200...

Honestly I don't get the point of people complaining about this island and the lack on facilities/amenities/whatever.

The island hopping tour is not meant to entertain people, it's meant to take you to desert (or almost desert) island to enjoy the majesty of nature, the peaceful beaches, the turquoise water, etc.
Dako Island is the most "civilized" island out of the 3 included in the tour package (along with Guyam Island and Naked Island) but that doesn't mean you have to expect to be on a island build for tourist. This is still a natural place where local people live simply, luckily the didn't turn the island into a touristic place, they kept their lifestyle and landscape as they've always been, and that's the big thing about this island. You just enjoy amazing landscapes, you chill on the beach, you swim in turquoise waters, you sunbathe and you get lost in this tropical paradise. If you're looking for entertainment, just don't do the island hopping. You miss the point of this trip.

You should stay here for lunch when you go on the island hopping tour in Siargao...there are cottages to rent and there is food on offer also. When we got there, one enterprising guy offered us fresh buko..which was refreshing. He also offered seafood for sale but we had already eaten so we declined. It's lovely to swim there...the white sandy beaches ensures that there are no rocks that will cut your feet while you are treading on water. I heard there is even a resort there. So, if you want to laze the day away, stay here.

To put it bluntly, I didn't want to leave. I was this close to asking around if the 3G signal there was strong because I was seriously thinking about living there (and I need internet for work!). My family and I took a boat near Dako, snorkeled around, then swam to the island.

We had the whole place practically to ourselves - and it was a Sunday! There's barely any trash around, which made the place extra beautiful. The fine white sand could almost rival Boracay's. A lot of times I just sat down and spent a good half hour just staring at the shore because I couldn't believe how beautiful this place was. The second we left, I was already thinking about when I would come back. This is definitely one of the best islands among the 7,107 in the Philippines.

Also, the coral reef by the island is gorgeous! Be careful not to step on any corals!

Dakota island is a beautiful place. We had a great surf session, then enjoyed a meal of fresh fish and pork chops cooked by our surf instructor. The place is what you imagine the Philippines to be... White sand rustic, with a friendly feel. Note there is not electricity or store on the island so you have to bring p your food, although there are huts and BBQ facilities you can rent.
