This review is done as a 'public travel service" as Bayham Abbey for whatever reason is currently not open to the public. It has not been so for the eight days we were nearby in the first half of May, 2018. There is no explanation...More

A wonderful group of monastic ruins sitting on the Kent / Sussex border. It is quiet and provides a lovely peaceful place for a picnic

Very Interesting Abbey Ruins, quite mystical and romantic. Very peaceful place to visit. National Heritage Members free, so well worth a visit.

A nice place to go out for a family picnic and to explore the old stones on a sunny day, the place is not crowded at any time. It's a NAtional Heritage place, so the parking and entrance are free for the members.

I first saw it fromthe path from Hawkenbury cemetery when a child, and always wanted to visit. Compare it with Tintern and Altenberger Dom ,Koeln of the Cistercians. Worth the trip.

Very much like many other ruined monastic houses. Picturesque. The lack of information on site is really appalling. Only a few of the buildings had even basic nomenclature. None had any detailed information: one is expected to buy a guide book. Unless you are an...More

The car park is to be found along a long narrow track and probably holds less than 10 cars at any one time. On the day of my visit the site was very quiet, although that was likely due to the rain; which meant having...More
