Walking around Vaitape and came across this humble yet beautiful little Catholic church. Very picturesque with the mountain in the background. Too late for mass but did get to walk inside and see the alter and Eucharist carved from a large tree trunk. Well worth the look inside.

We particularly looked for this at Bora Bora- I always like to pay a visit to any catholic church when I do my vacations, almost my way of saying thank you for all my blessings and keeping my close to God. This church is open even after hours, I said my prayers and lit candles and gave some offerings. It is very close to the Pier and local shops. Per previous review- yes its beautiful glass stained windows.

We visited today (Sunday morning) for Mass. I am writing this review now so that I don't forget the details. Mass Time is 9:30 a.m. and the service was just over an hour long. I believe that this is the only Mass for the weekend. There was no priest, so a Eucharistic Service .was performed by a Lay Minister. The choir was lovely and quite vibrant. Even though hubby and I don't speak French we followed along and didn't know what was said through the homily, but I'm just happy we were able to fulfil our "Sabbath obligation". Quaint, casual church that maintains Tahitian culture (some prayers and hymns). The church is not air-conditioned, but it was extremely airy/breezy!!

Be sure to make a visit to the church on a Sunday or to at least get within its vicinity to hear the wonderful singing- brings joy to your heart. If you wish to go in the congregation are very welcoming and make you feel included in the service by welcoming us in English.
Would recommend a dress code such as longer shorts or trousers for men and shoulders and knees covered for ladies. The locals are all dressed in colourful clothes and the ladies have flowers in their hair.
A wonderful experience and interesting insight into local culture.

We only had 1 sunday in Bora are so thankful to have been able to attend mass in such a loving and friendly church! It was emotional as the minister was leaving and someone else was going to replace him. It was lovely to see all the locals come sing along in their local dialect and we could join along in French as it was displayed on a large screen.

We found this beautiful church as we left the cruise ship tender dock. Just a short walk out to the street, turn right and it's a block up on the left. We arrived in time for the Sunday mass at 10:00. The service was complimented by the parishioners singing in both French and Polynesian. There is an amazing stained glass window above the altar and we were told it is reinforced to resist cyclones. The impressive work represents the seven sacraments and if you look closely you can get a glimpse of Mt.Pahia in a small pane. The people were very friendly and were most welcoming. Weather you are catholic or not you might enjoy seeing this wonderful church and the beautiful window.

Very pretty church with a view of the tallest mountain/volcano crater through the stained glass behind and above the altar. No air conditioning.
