Small museum, but well researched and presented. Exhibits focus on the Scottish emigrants and their influence on the area. Brings to life a group of families who made this part of New Zealand home, and left their legacy.

We spent an hour here looking around. Really directed to those who are descended from the first settlers but lot of information about that period of settlement of new Zealand.

Definitely take the time to understand the Scottish connection and history of Waipu. It is a small but informative place with knowledgeable docents and a delightful gift shop. We love this museum!!!

A small museum but full of information and artefacts very well presented and giving a great insight into this fascinating group of rather severe religious people who left Scotland, tried life in Canada, were horrified by Australia and ended up in Waipu.

If you have any Scottish blood you must be sure to visit Waipu Museum. It is well presented with extensive material covering one of the most amazing immigration sagas in history.

The $10 is well worth it, especially if you are from Scotland or have Scottish heritage. It is small but I still spent almost an hour in the museum.

When we visited there was no admission charge, however you can make a donation. You are free to just walk around and look at everything, it is a fairly small place but loaded with history of the area.
