The Kohima museum gives a quick overview of the history, culture, flora, fauna and topography of the 7 North Eastern states. There is also a small shop selling local handicrafts and artifacts. The restaurant outside the museum building is well know for its local food.

I’m not generally a fan of museums, but this one is very well presented and tells so much about the lives of people of the 14 Naga tribes. There’s even a tea room outside.

It’s an experience to see this museum. Very well chronicled day by day of those fateful two weeks. Good displays. Good lucid historical explanations.

Of the museums we visited in NorthEast at Tawang Bomdila and Itanagar and finally this one - this was the best. Great collection of exhibits - old Neolithic and models of tribal dresses and settlements and photographs.
