Wow, What a Wonderful Place and Great Show!

I had the joy of visiting the Jungle about a week ago. Wow, and what a joy it truly was. I'm an American expat living in the Philippines for over 3 and half years. I have never seen anything like this in the Philippines. As soon as I stepped out of the door of my taxi I was treated like a king. Then I had food piled up on the table and the owner even apologized over MY picky eating likes. There was nothing to apologize. I couldn't have asked for better. I tried something a little new for me, pig tongue and ears. haha The show was fabulous. The female dancers were personable, sweet, warm a friendly. They guys probably were too but you know I'm gonna notice the ladies first. haha. Actually everyone treated me wonderful. The owner is a Southern gentleman in every sense of the word, eager to help out and like me and most Southerners has the gift of gab though I sensed he tried to restrain in fear of hanging around too long. No danger, Philip seems to be a great guy. You just can't do better than the Jungle. Do NOT come to Cebu and miss going to the Jungle. It isn't a budget place. It doesn't try to be. There are lots of those around. If you want to see something different, if you want to learn about the Philippines and have something special to talk about when you return home, don't miss the jungle. My girlfriend is Filipina and she kept saying that I use to do that do this in school. What you see is authentic to the Philippines. I'll say again, don't miss the heat of the Jungle!

I have rated the restaurant, but send the same review on the show page:

I was staying in one of the best hotel in central Cebu. They have a show that costs 500 peso to see. When I compare that 40 minute hotel show, to the 90 min FREE show that I saw when I was eating on The Jungle Restaurant...just want me to write this review.
It's a great show and exceeded my expectation. Upon that, I had the best chicken I ate in the whole of the Philippines. So I don't have to sell anything, or holding stakes in any corner: You need to eat anyway, and with the FREE 90 min show while eating, this one is a solid traveladvice for anyone that like good food and a great show to watch. You can also watch my homemade short movie from parts of the show on youtube:

The Jungle arranged a pickup van to pick us up from our hotel. We were greeted by very welcoming staff. The place was very basic, a small stage and 20 approx. simple tables/chairs also. However the show was not interesting at all so it was far from great as the others had wrote about on this page. Therefore for what we paid, we didn't feel it was all worth it. The basic food combo was P600/person and on top you had to order (P200 for cocktails, P75 for juices) some drinks. For that money you can eat alot better elsewhere. Also we were the only ones there so 4 people and so we felt like we had to watch the show and applause when each dance ended.

I really struggled with this place. A couple of things you should know before you read the rest : 1. we were there on a night when there were only 8 guests for the 6.30 show and 2. we are vegetarians so we didn't sample the vast majority of the food.

I made a reservation the day of the show and explained that we were vegetarians - it was quickly confirmed and the free pick up was early and great. We were welcomed at the restaurant by lots of people and made to feel very welcome. We were a bit disappointed that there was only one other table of people - not the restaurants fault as such but it did result in NO atmosphere. I think the performers really struggled with this - it may have been a different show with a lot of people.

The first thing we were served was clam soup - so that went right back since we don't eat meat or fish and had explained that. The rest of the food was very tasty in fairness although there wasn't really enough of it. I left a little hungry and my wife was the same. We couldn't get our kids to eat any of the food they served - our problem, not theirs and they didn't charge for our kids in any case as they are just 2 years old.

So the food was tasty but the show is bizarre.... It starts out well enough (though why the volume was turned up to 11 with a small crowd is anyone's guess - it was TOO LOUD and my daughter covered her ears the entire time). But after 15 minutes or so it became a bizarre collection of America's Got Talent audition pieces with suggestive dancing to 80s pop hits the dominant theme. Now I realize that this may in fact be perfectly representative of culture in the Phillipines but it's probably not what most people would be expecting. The show finished off with an short but impressive display of fire eating.

Overall the people are very friendly, we felt welcome and it felt good to be supporting a local business. The food we ate was very nice and since they specialize in meats and seafood I imagine that would be even better. But the show is, frankly, one of the most surreal experiences I have ever had.

I have reviewed this atrtraction under Mactan Island restaurants as it is a bat, restaurant and dinner show all in one.

Suffice to say that in my other review filed under 'restaurants' I gave it 6 out of 5.

It is superb: the performers believe in what they are doing.

A 'must-see' for visitors to Cebu and Mactan Island: nightly shows are at 1830, 2030 and I think 1930 as well. It's easy to find, being on the main road to resorts such as Maribago Bluewater.

The best resturant i been to was the Jungle resturant, the prices was great , the Enterainment was outstanding and the dancer was really professional, i would reconmend that if you are traveling to the Cebu, choose the Jungle as your main vacation site, for tours and food, the Management and owner which i had a chance to meet with his wife are really great people.

This place is out-of-the-way, but an entertaining dinner/theatre experience! Non-smokers may complain due to the "old school" style of smoking and non-smoking sections, but this is NOT America, so live with it or lose out.

The night started out with a free jeepny ride (upon reservation) from the hotel to the restaurant. Upon arrival, you are treated like royalty with first come, first serve seating (when we were there, only 6 tables were occupied). Order your food, we were 2 and enough food for 6 came to our table. Then the native dancers start thier routine, by the time you fill up on food, the lights go down and fire breathers start their act.

There are several sets of native exhibitions which include audience participation and finally around 10pm it's time for posing on stage with the performers. Photos are taken and given to patrons before leaving. Again, free jeepny ride back to hotel almost anywhere on Mactan island.

***NOTE*** BRING CASH!!! P3000 should be more than enough for 2 people's food and bar...CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED!!! They had to bring me to an ATM and back (also free, but I tipped because I felt stupid) to pay the bill.

I remember it was around November last year when my husband had arrived from the US to be with me again. It was late afternoon when i was thinking where to take him to dinner where food is great, very attentive staff and some great music or a show. After that, i told him about The Jungle Restaurant. I've heard that they have a really good shows and good food there. So, he said "yea sure, lets go over there'. As soon as we walked towards by their entrance, the sweetest smile and a very friendly staff take us inside the restaurant, to their table, take our seats, then offered us drinks. In a minute later, the owner came to our table and welcomed us. So, we ordered foods, some appetizers, fruits. and grilled seafood. The food was so tasty, prepared nicely, very appetizing. While enjoying the food, we were also watching the show. It was BLAST! VERY VERY NICE! GREAT PERFORMERS! GREAT DANCERS! and after each show, the dancer will come to your table and take you to the dance floor and try their steps.Very nice. Had to take off my heels to do the Tinikling (one of the Philippine traditional dances) It was a lot of fun. The staff had to give me lots of those wet towels. Thanks guys! We will see you again soon! Your place is GREAT!

O dear, I cannot believe that people actually enjoyed the food here.
The food is simply terrible and expensive compared to what you can get in a different restaurant.
The show is lame, its like going to watch you child perform in a school play.
Please go if u feel charitable and u wuna spread the wealth around the area.
But my advice is to save your money, spend it on Island hoping or scuba diving.
It was so so so bad that I had to laugh on how this managed to have a high score on Tripadvisor?!?!?!?
