It's nice to stroll along the small street's surrounding the Cathedral, stopping for a coffee at any of the many available around and visiting the Cathedral which is nice for itself but same as many others at south Italy.

We visited the Cathedral while there was a wedding ceremony going on. It is a grand and intricately decorated Cathedral. Was simply beautiful, I can't even imagine getting married there.

Very beautiful cathedral with impressive entrance door. We loved everything about this town. Altamura is a little gem not to be missed.

Very beautiful, ancient cathedral. Wonderful bells. Great place to stop and admire the architecture with a fresh gelato from around the corner.

This cathedral was fairly much like many others in the area, apart from the entrance which is very ornate and has 2 large stone lions guarding it.

This cathedral is so peaceful and lovely inside. The patron saint of Altamura is San Nicola and the cathedral is blessed to have patrons donate beautiful artwork, stained glass windows and it was gold laden. The cathedral had many chapels whose donors were generous and...More

We visited the cathedral late in the afternoon, when someone was cleaning and we were unable to visit the clerestory. But we were able to see the enormous, permanent Nativity scene in a side aisle - interesting in that the bambino has been stolen several...More
