Beautiful church next to the museum. Nice paintings and the mozaïek in the Windows are so wonderful. At the moment we came it was very busy with local people

This beautiful church can be seen for miles around, its gold leaf spire shines in the sun and must have inspired the troops during the battles of the WW1. It is truly a must visit.

Very nice church on the inside and out in the center of the very pleasant town of Albert. Nice place for a break from the trenches of the Somme.

This is an amazing church, completely rebuilt after terrible war damage. Stop to read the story and thank God for peace after such horrors.

Beautiful church, totally rebuilt after being destroyed in the Great War. Stunning marble, excellent mosaics with Byzantine images. The original Virgin statue on the top was damaged in WW1 and dangled at a right angle for most of the war.

Considering that the Basilique was nearly totally destroyed during WW1, the reconstructed building is amazing. If you look carefully, there are some small sections of the original building that show pre-WW1 condition and also some WW1 damage. Well worth a visit.

Even if you're not religious which we're not this is a fabulous piece of art. To think that it had been flattened and now stands proudly in the centre of Albert is a miracle.

The Basilique Notre-Dame in Albert was virtually destroyed during the First World War. There are numerous photos inside the church which show what the original 19th century building looked like. A great job was done restoring the church to it's original state including the pretty...More
