We rented the only apartment on the beach at the Saint Lawrence Gap, so it was perfect for visiting the Gap during the day or night.
For the not-so-fortunate, we suggest that you catch the public bus or small local minivan from where ever you are staying for about $2, to St. Lawrence Gap. They will drop you off at the corner by the Castaway restaurant opposite Cafe Sol. Continue past the palm trees on the beachfront on your right, and then follow the road up the hill past the Dive bar and turn left at the Cocktail Kitchen opposite Saint Lawrence by the Sea church.
There is a great variety of bars and restaurants here that serve local Bajan dishes and cater to the tourist but be warned it gets very loud and busy at night. Take a stroll down to Sharkey’s bar for drinks with lots of colour, there is even a local rum bar nearby where you buy rum by the pint, after which there’s Hals Car Park bar for karaoke later.
In the daytime, visit the veranda at the mimosas bar and drink lots of Icy cold adult beverages while gazing out over the blue Caribbean, or wander further down the gap and you will find a variety of street vendors selling everything from fresh Coconuts to slices of Macaroni cheese. There are even signs for Cuban cigars, Barbers, island tours, a Friendship place, and lots more eating establishments.
TIP: Chickens seem to be everywhere they make great subjects for different holiday photos.
I would apricate a thumbs up below if you found this review informative.
Thank you.

We walked here one morning to check out the shops and pick up a few beachy dresses. Friendly area, nice shops, a great selection of places to eat and drink. It’s quiet in the morning and it gave us time to shop without crowds. Prices are average to a bit higher than average. I like to pick up things from local artists or hand made here. Look for sea island cotton designs or artwork.

I felt it was a safe area, take normal precautions you would take in a USA city. There are variety of restaurants, some were closed on Monday and Tuesday. The area is mixed with new or renovated properties as well as run down properties. There are several small souvenir shops, couple of convenience stores and some vendors. The vendors are not pushy like we have experienced on other islands. Streets are maintained relatively clean. There are a lot of people walking both day and during the evening. There are local fishermen that you see go out and come back, clean the fish and you can buy from them, can’t get any fresher than that. Over all is a nice area convenient to food, beaches and transportation to other parts of the island, a good base point to explore other parts of the island, especially if you want to get the feel of the island and not be secluded in a resort. We found the people of Barbados to be very friendly and kind.

What is going on in the Gap? Several places are closed. There were hardly any people walking around. Felt kinda creepy because no one was around. Waiter at Steak house was great. Otherwise, have run into some really rude people and the customer service has been horrible. We've been coming here for about 10 years and this is a BIG change with people and the environment.

The Gap was fun to walk through at night with everything lit up, it felt very safe. There were lots of places to eat and I saw some night clubs. We ate mainly by the bay so we could sit looking at the water watching the little boats bob about.

I visited on my own and found St Lawrence gap was fun, safe, cheap to eat & drink in, and a good location for getting about to other places. I had read a lot of bad things about people hassling selling stuff or bugging females etc but did not experience this whatsoever, so I definitely plan on visiting again. So many places to eat and drink and the beaches are nice. Everything is within walking distance and local people are so friendly and helpful.

We went to this area a lot to eat, plenty of choice. As we had a car we usually drove to eat then back to our hotel to drink and chill. The downside is that if you don’t get down there before 6.30pm you will never get a parking space. If your local then taxi is the better option or bus. Very lively area late on with some great bars, I bet in the hight of season tho you would have to book a table for food and certainly have to queue for drinks but as we were out of season it was just busy enough. Definitely recommend this area if you like atmosphere as it was the most lively area around. If you walked further down the street the restaurants/hotels on the right overlook the sea so are more suitable for couples of young family groups, the bars/restaurants on the left side are more energetic and lively for groups and drinkers so all in all something for any age group. Will definitely visit again

The Gap is a great one-way street lined with plentiful dining establishments and bars along with a few hotels, apartments, and an old church. Really great place to go at night. Street vendors are not over a populated area and are Bajan polite. If you cannot find a place to eat here, you are out of luck.
At the start, you have a small fisherman beach. You see the fisherman diving for bait and going out in their small wooden boats. You can also watch the waves break over the reef. The other end of the gap is Sandals. I am reviewing the first 2/3.

Contemporary in style, fabulous menu, lobster tail Thermidor to die for, lamb rack excellent. Kellisha (The Manager) and her team all fabulous and super hard working Shandie (Shirley) lovely girl and very attentive.
Definitely recommend to anyone looking for something a little different from the St. L gap strip.
In our 8 day trip we went twice we liked it so much.

The gap has a lot to offer. There are many restaurants, small vendors, a few casinos, convent stores. It takes about 30min to walk from one end to the other. It’s a great spot to stay at one of the many hotels. We stayed at the Dover Beach Hotel 4*, which is at one end of the gap. Far enough it’s quiet but close to everything mentioned above.

Where are all the kicking bars in the Gap. We are in the Timeout Hotel right in the main area and it us dead as a dodo. What time does it get started. We have been out until 11pm and not a sign of any life. Nobody around. All the small bars are empty. An I missing something. Bar recommendations welcome. I want lively music of any type and other people!

All the bars in the area are very small. If you are at Time Out Hotel then you are more in the beach area. There are only a few bars in that area. At the other end of the Gap there are quite a few.

Plenty of good bars in St Lawrence Gap which you will find so happy hour. Couple of decent karaokes in car park opposite south Gap hotel. Day trip to mount gay rum distillery is a must

I'm organising for a group of '50-somethings' to spend a few days in Barbados in March. I'm looking for a lively place, on their last night, suitable for a group of 20 people, with a party atmosphere, it's safe and they won't get "ripped off" for over-expensive drinks. Any ideas?
Written January 23, 2018
Hi Blakeys is great. You can look it up but the food and drinks are well priced and tastes great. It's by the sea and goes until 12 midnight depending on the crowd. My advise is to book since you have a big crowd. Also the Crave restaurant in st. Lawrence gap for dinner. The street is lined with restaurant for your picking. For transportation contact 250-9223 or 624-7497 Sam the man. Their prices and service is exceptional. Let me know if I can help again.

Is there any tango venues in barbados
Written November 20, 2017
Jill I don't recall seeing any tango dance venues but I would think if you danced a tango at Oistons on a Friday night it would go down great.

Hi all! This Is mine and my best friends first time going to BARBADOS. We are two young single women who enjoy dancehall music and good street food, but we are also trying to stick to a budget. Do these bars/clubs have entrance fees?if so how much? also, how much do the drinks go for? How much should we expect to pay for vendors food? Thanks everyone!
Written March 11, 2017
Hi ladies, it all depends on where you are staying. The Gap is probably your best bet for Dancehall music there is also a street party that's over at LimeGrove during the week. Also you have Boatyard & Sharkeys which you can dine at.
If you want good daytime entertainement try the cateraman "Cool Runnings" it's a 5hr boat cruise which is all inclusive.
Oistins is good for Good Steamed Fish and entertaiment.
My motto is if it hasn't got a price on it its up for negotiations.
Have fun I go at least 3 times a year and I'm off back there next week🏝🇧🇧👙🍾🍹

what is it like in September I normally go in November. is the weather sunny or is it they rainy season. was just there in November and was stuck in apartment for a day the rain was up to our knees. is the night life just the same.
Written December 29, 2016
We've been in September and usually the weather is good, - we've also just come back and we heard about the rain in November which was extremely unusual for Barbados - you were very unlucky !! - in September the weather should be no problem but the nightlife will not really be as good as November, December or January - could be a bit on the quiet side.
Written December 30, 2016
It wasn't when I visited last week - needs to get it sorted PDQ.
