    Atmospheric setting!
A major part of the temple is still remaining, which is still impressive, some restoration work is still being carried on, but the setting is atmospheric with Mount Ararat poking its peak through the clouds. Definitely worth a visit, as was the included museum visit. The entrance fee, like everything after COVID has been increased to 3000, but is worth it. As our flight was far too early for our hotel check-in, we organised Hyur Service to pick us up from the airport, visit Zvartnots (handy to the airport) and then drop us back to our Yerevan downtown hotel in time for check-in. Bonus, out in the sun to get rid of the dreaded jetlag as well!

on a clear day, you can see mt ararat from here. otherwise, it will still be worth visiting. it is a small site overall that will not take more than 45 min of your time free parking at the side and front of entrance.

You cannot visit Armenian without visiting this iconic place.
This is the iconic ruins of the legendary Zvartnots Temple. It makes for great pictures and with Mt. Ararat in the background. Unfortunately, the skies were overcast to where it was hard to see. Still, it was worth every minute spent seeing these temple ruins.

    Zvartnots Translates to Guardian Angels
This archeological site with remains of early Christian buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Church of the Guardian Angels was destroyed in the 10th Century by earthquake. Walk around, get a feel for the structure.

    Impressive historic ruins
After a visit to the Echmiadzin Monastery, we headed to this nearby landmark, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once one of the most beautiful churches in the world, but was destroyed by an earthquake in 930. Today only a few columns and the ruins of the building remain. It is worth a visit, the entrance fee is 1500dram.

In Armenia in the Middle Ages, time was determined by solar hours. They were built on the walls of churches.
These are round or semicircular stone blocks, in the middle of which a slot was made into which an arrow was inserted. There were dials at the bottom. And instead of numbers, Armenian letters were used. The upper part of these watches was usually richly decorated. You might have seen such a clock in the design of the Cascade. The clocks on each floor have their own design. But this is just a replica...

Free, gorgeous site we attended with Hyur Service. Wish we had more time for the excellent small museum in the back with English translations. Wasn’t crowded when we arrived, unlike other historic sites we visited.

Beautifully located complex with impressive ruins and a well-made little museum. You don't need to plan more than an hour for the visit. Unless you use the complex for a short break. I can highly recommend taking a nap in the ruins ;-)

Been here last January 5, 2018. The 3rd tour of our last tour in Yerevan.
Blessed that I was able to see the real picturesque of Zvartnots Temple as it is included in UNSECO World Heritage Site
The ruins are well-preserved and well-maintained
Again, we have no chance to see or view the supposed to be temple as it was close due to extended holiday in Armenia.
Problem also is, there is no toilet room
Souvenir shop is available
