Who knows how old this tree actually is? But legend has it that Hippocrates lectured his students under this tree. And it certainly looks ancient, with a huge iron framework holding it all together. There’s a very nice restaurant opposite as well.
No visit to Kos town would be complete without visiting this place because of the importance of this guys teachings for modern medicine.
It’s supported by scaffolding now in many place as it’s so huge.

Wonderful to see the setting for Hippocrates and the teachings he passed on to the world. Its easy to imagine him sitting under the tree sharing his learnings. This is the start of a wonderful historical wander through the old city.
