Second visit to such an important museum
Jul 2019 • Friends
This has been my second visit to such an important museum - ensuring that the brave people featured are not forgotten.
Having said that, please can some attention be given to the outside exibits. A fungus growing under the perspex signs has rendered the headings unreadable.
Surely, also some consideration could be given to having the display descriptions in English as well as French, after all, all three nations were fully involved. ( there's no problem at all in visiting all the D-day museums as everything is covered in both languages.)
Please, please consider this request to make a really good visit an excellent one!!

Museum of the Resistance
Jul 2019 • Couples
Welcomed by staff member who was very helpful. Lots of general and localised information regarding the French resistance living and causing havoc in France, information about French forces within the allied forces. 6 individual rooms with a book in English to explain what we were looking at as well as information regarding Breton residents taken as prisoners and where they were moved to.

The museum is hidden in the woods, easily missed but well worth a visit.

Gem of a Museum a must see
Jun 2019 • Couples
An absolute gem of a Museum. I learnt so much in a short time regarding the Free French Army. The St Marcel Marquis and US & UK forces and UK SAS. So sad to see they are now struggling for funding. They made us very welcome including our two British Bulldogs. Fabulous grounds with a nice creperie and plenty of parking . Highly recommend seeing. There is a lovely tribute to St Marcel resistance in the Town too.

An amazing visit

Such a well-stocked museum almost in the middle of nowhere. It comes as a real surprise and has many first class exhibits. Well worth a trip.

Excellent museum - lots of detail
Nov 2018 • Friends
I went with a group of French/English speaking Tour Guides from Normandy and we all agreed the museum was excellent. Perhaps if a visitor knew only a little about the war it might be a bit daunting as there was a lot of detail. But for people with more than average knowledge it is an incredible collection. Some very rare weapons, vehicles and uniforms on display and an informative film too (with English subtitles)

Incredible museum
Aug 2018 • Couples
This museum is built on the site of the biggest Maquis battle against the Germans around the time of the D Day landings. It
is packed full of amazing exhibits and facts and imparts some harrowing tales of indiscriminate shootings of many people who had no active part in the battle nor were resistance members.
Around 2500 resistance and Free French SAS paratroopers, engaged the Germans and battled on until nightfall when most of the fighters and the majority of their supplies were spirited out of the battle zone and on to fight another day in small groups. It was the first time that the Germans had not won a battle against the resistance and was a great morale booster for Bretons and the whole of France. Sadly the museum was not busy when we visited and needs some serious promotion to keep it going. It would be a total disaster to lose such an important resource. Please give it your support.

Interesting but not so much for little ones
Aug 2018 • Family
I found this very interesting. Yes it's in french but it is France and we were given an English translation. The beginning video has subtitles and was informative. It is not interactive and you cannot take photos. The outside exhibits are good but the hanger of vehicles was closed so had to look through little windows.

Had it’s time
Aug 2018 • Family
Returned here after originally visiting 6 years ago, and was a little disappointed. Massive shame really as this museum portrays an extremely important message, and the staff were really friendly too.

There’s a lot of information here, and you do get your money’s worth for €7.70. A lot of effort was put into collecting all of the memorabilia and setting up the installations, but I did get the feeling that this place has been left to deteriorate. Also the vehicle hanger was closed up.
We were the only visitors as well, and the café out the back was closed.
Unfortunately a lot of sites in this part of Northern France face a similar scenario - lack of visitors and revenue due to decreasing interest and an increase in second home owners.

Amazing museum
Jun 2018 • Friends
Went here because my close friend who lives in the area recommended it; also I had read the book about the local resistance group which the museum commemorates.

The generic parts which chronicle the war are interesting because they are told from the French side. However it is the exhibits which tell the local story which really fascinate.

Anyone with an interest in history must come here.

They are trying to raise money to update the place and let's hope they do because there is an important story to be told here.
