We were staying at the Hotel Cinnamon Village Habarana - So we had direct access to the lake privately. We did see public coming there on Elephant Rides at the other end. The Lake is small but beautiful and is a Bird Watcher's Paradise.

A lovely place to walk/jog around early in the morning. Plenty of birds later on and especially before sunset. Elephant walks available on the northern bank near Sorowwa Resort. Nice granite hill next to the road to Cinnamon Lodge good for views.

The clue is in the name. There is no shade, nowhere to get a drink, no obvious pathway and we saw no birds or other wild life. Probably not worth going of your way for.

This lake is teeming with birdlife both on water, on its shores as well as in the surrounding jungle. Reasonable variety of bird species can be ticked by taking a stroll alongside the lake. The still waters make for great sunset photography as well.
