Although called the Air Force Center, and featuring mainly military aircraft, it is run by a foundation and receives no funds from the military. Nevertheless the aircraft are beautifully restored and presented. I went primarily to see the P-16 (one of only 2 remaining), and...More
Amazing displays, historic and rare military artifacts. Great staff that inform you of other parts of the facility that are open limited time. This allowed us to view additional aircraft and air defense pieces.
What a super place. Shed loads of interesting displays. The aircraft were superb. Staff ok. A good place to spend a couple of hours browsing. Loads of parking available plus swiss airforce choppers taking off and landing all the time.5
Impressive display of the Swiss Air Force. You will find a prototype of the P-16, a Swiss fighter dished by Pilatus and was abandoned after 2 accident in Bodensee. The design of the wing was later bought by Gates, to create the Learjet. Many other...More
We had booked a transfer flight with a JU-52 from Dübendorf to Wels (Austria). As part of the package a tour of the Air Force museum was included. To describe the guide, almost impossible, thank you! He was a source of knowledge and enthusiasm you...More
The Air Force Centre's display hangar at Dubendorf airfield contains a good display of historic aircraft. These range from 1930s types to postwar jet planes and include several Swiss designed and built aircraft. The museum is within walking distance of the railway station.
I went to the Air Force Center at Dubendorf primarily to take a joy flight on a vintage Junkers JU-52 with JU-Air.
Easy to reach by train (short walk from Dubendorf Hbf). Need to book in advance, and then confirm weather conditions on the morning...More
The musem is rather nice. Is close to Dübendorf (very close to Zürich) and is fun, especially with kids. Is well kept and information are readily available. Is not so big, so don't expect a huge musem, but you will see old planes from the...More
We got ours in the gift shop, just inside the main entrance. I do not recall the prices, but there was so much history to be seen, I was not focused on the price. There may be an opportunity to check out the Ju-52 hangar... More
We got ours in the gift shop, just inside the main entrance. I do not recall the prices, but there was so much history to be seen, I was not focused on the price. There may be an opportunity to check out the Ju-52 hangar next door. In warmer months you can pay to ride on one (or more?) of them. To get there, we caught the train from the main Zurich station to Dubbendorf, there are multiple exits from that platform. The one that comes up and winds to the right, near a roundabout is the way to go. A short walk will bring you to the museum.
