We had reservations for the high tea which I was happily anticipating. Perhaps I had recently digested too much information about Irish history and feeling a bit soured on the upper class; nevertheless, I did not need the not-so-subtle commentary from the waitstaff when they...More

We stopped at Mrs Teas for an afternoon coffee. Nice little place and a good location/ good tea and cake. However, we were surprised to see everything at Mrs Teas sold in disposable cups or packaging which is not very environmentally friendly! It would be...More

This iconic castle was the highlight of our trip to Ireland. it complemented very nicely the marvelous gardens of Powerscourt, the mythical and whimsical Blarney's castle, the unique and inspiring Book of Kells and the majestic Cliffs of Moher. Ashford castle provides a gorgeous setting...More

Arrived with the late Irish summer sun (yes we had great weather) to see the amazing grounds, hotel and views. Simply stunning with impeccable service.

A most memorable experience. Tommy, our expert guide, was charming, well-informed on the hawks, an articulate teacher and clearly in love with his work and the hawks. We each (husband & wife) had a hawk to "fly" and Tommy skillfully and patiently taught us how...More

If you want to see a castle you will be wasting your time here. The is a ridiculous entry fee to see the outside facade. No one but hotel guests allowed inside. While the grounds are impressive your time would be better spent in a...More

Very expensive high end luxury hotel with five star ratings and prices to match. Wanted to see grounds and take pictures. Never made it inside due to not staying at hotel and staff keeps a tight watch on entrance to non guests. Was able to...More

We all had a great time at Ashford Castle!! The grounds were beautiful!! We also enjoyed the falconry lesson. Guides were very knowledgeable and patient with all of us as we worked with the falcons.

Like so many other attractions in this town, Ashford Castle is highly overrated. There is a steep charge (10 euros) for entering the grounds and viewing the gardens. You can stroll a short distance beyond the gatehouse before reaching the bridge where the fine is...More

When we booked Ashford Castle I was slightly concerned it would be “stuffy”. Could not have been more wrong. The Castle was Absolutely Gorgeous and the staff took care of any and everything. Although it was such a sophisticated resort, the atmosphere was still comfortable....More

I really don't know, but if you are having tea and doing falconry I am sure you will be allowed to walk around the grounds and have access to most of the castle. The staff there is most friendly. We loved the people at the... More

Hi I don’t know the opening times but entry to the grounds by car is only permitted if you have a reservation at the lodge or hotel. You can walk through the grounds at any time during opening hours.
