On the positive side: Nice topography with walls dropping down to -50m, the Skull cave is very interesting.
Good place for freediving for advanced divers.
On the negative side: every island hoping boat anchors on the shallow plateau, all the hard corals were killed by anchors a long time ago. The site if over-fished.. It is be part of the Tanon Strait Marine Park, it has current and it is surrounded by deep water, it should be full of pelagic predators.. But because of constant fishing, it is empty of fish. Divers are lucky if they see a couple of snappers and a skipjack tuna. You ' ll be happy if you like frogfish and nudibranches
Let' s hope that this place will finally get the protection it deserves..

It's an awesome day trip! Take a boat from almost anywhere in Moalboal, sit back, relax and enjoy the 25 to 35 minute ride to Pescador Island. It's just a small little outcrop in the middle of the straight between Cebu and Negros. We don't usually go for the Island itself (there's nothing really on it and it is protected), but it is a favorite spot to hang out, snorkel, dive, and enjoy the beautiful coral reefs surrounding it. I spent my 49th birthday out there. We had three boats full of family and just partied!

We did there 2 dives. First by east side and second one by west side. This island is full of live. I also like chinese tourists drowning on the surface.

Great Dive location. Did it twice. A definite must do!!! The marine life is plentiful. If you take your time and look carefully you can see lots of small creatures.

We went to Pescador as part of a 3 stop boat trip which included turtles, sardines, and Pescador Island. The turtles were very cool, sardines were the real highlight, but the island was a bit underwhelming.

Had some great diving here despite rough seas. Lots of sea turtles and a very large octopus in a cave. Cathedral chimney that started around 37m deep and rose up was pretty cool. Wish I had more time there.

Went to the island by boat with my brother and a friend. I dove down to 33 meters, they went snorkeling. Current was strong but not challenging.

Not much fishes at the site and some coral. Probably due to the selected site and the timing. No current easy to snorkel.

We went with Savedra Dive Center. It is about 5-10 minutes on a boat from the Dive center. I can definitely recommend going to Pescador with this dive crew.

HI. Hope you've been to pescador already. sorry for late reply. Anyway, for turtles, apo island is still the place to go and parts of Palawan island.

Hi - how do you get to Pescador island? And did you stay on it, or stay nearby?

Stay in the resorts of moalboal. The site itself to boart the bancas is just a port. No restaurant or air conditioned waiting areas. You get there by hiring a van, or riding a bus. I'd suggest for you to just rent a van.

We are travelling in October 1st week and plan to spend a night or 2 in Moalboal. Both me and my husband do not know swimming, but we have snorkelled and dived (beginner's dive) in various places earlier with the help of operators. I wanted to know if Pescador Island tour operator/fishermen help beginners snorkel/dive? Can someone guide me to a good contact for this?
Thanks in advance!

Hello - Use the transport your hotel or resort recommends, for the two of us it was a private car. Moalboal is over rated. We loved the diving much better on Cabilao Island.
Is 11k pesos tour in Moal Boal - Pescador Island - Kawasan - Sumilon for two pax without accommodation is worth it?

If Kawasan is only within the falls without canyoneering that would be still quite pricey, but if the Kawasan+Canyoneering good enough, try to look for local agency offering South Cebu tours.. usually that is inclusive of transpo, accomodation and tours (pescador tour(sardines run)-moalboal, Oslob whaleshark, Tumalog falls, Sumilon island, Osmena peak, Badian Canyoneering +Kawasan falls) that would be a 2day tour, that would ranges to 4-6k per pax, inclusive of airport transfer fr city to south...try Tidoy transport services, we just got our tour from them last month, a joiners tour; we had a blast trip!

Hello! I hope I can get the answer from here. I am planning a trip in May to Cebu and wanted to go somewhere nearby to chill and snorkel, though don't know how to swim.
What is the safest and easiest way to go here from Cebu City?
I look forward to your reply soon. Thank you very much.

you take a ceres bus going to moalboal at the south terminal. tell the driver you are dropping off at the corner going to bas daku. there u can choose the resort of your desire for an overnight stay. ask assistance from the staff for an island hopping towards pescador island.its one of the best snorkeling places in the Philippines.on the same boat trip, you can stop for dolphin watching, turtle chasing and swim with millions of sardines. sharks do pass by sometimes according to locals..
bas daku also gives you fine white sandy beaches with clear waters. you will not regret with moalboal if you love the sea

I`d like to ask how much do we pay for the banca for the trip to pescador island and back.

Depending on who you hire, you can rent a banca for anywhere from 1000 pesos to 3500 pesos. Some of the diving clubs in Panagsama beach can let you hitch a ride for about 500 pesos if they are diving in Pescador that day.
