About
Planet Action Adventure, the first and leading organizer of adventure tours in Cebu and Nergos Island Philippines and founded 1996 , specialised in outdoor adventure and adventure holiday packages. Our most popular day tours are our river climbing and canyoning tours. These are quite challenging and offer awesome action for everybody. The Horseback riding tour in the mountains of Cebu is also exciting adventure for beginner as well expert riders. On our caving tour you explore one of biggest caves in the Philippines. In the bizarre South Cebu Highland trekking offer great view from the highest tops of Cebu to close by islands. For adventurous kids above 4 years old planet action prepare some fun tours to waterfalls, jungle, little caves and beaches. These tours are day tours and start around 9am and end sometime in the afternoon at Panagsama Beach in Moalboal. During this time all you need is provided by us like food, climbing equipments, and transfer from Moalboal by action truck. Depend on the activity the rates are between 2500 - 3500 Philippine Peso (P) per person for a whole day excursions. We arrange these tours with minimum of two participants every day of the week. For groups of 4 and up we recommend our multi days trekking and climbing adventure. Our most challenging tour is the 2.5 days ascend to the crater of the active volcano Mt. Kanlaon on Nergos Island. We spend one night in tents at around 2300 meter above sea level beside the steaming crater. Further this very challenging tour we also offer an easy two days jungle trekking tour at the Twin lakes in Negros, where we camp beside a crater lake surrounded by lush rain forest. Besides organized tours you can rent bikes in Moalboal. You can explore caves, rice terraces, white sandy beaches and orchid farm by yourself. We have special maps and tour descriptions where you find all these places of interest. Rental rates for Mountain Bikes are 300, 500 and 1000 PHP per day.

We were feeling being taken care of during the whole trip - Kawasan canyoneering. We booked it a day before. Our guides were really nice and helpful. After that we got deliciuous lunch. However during booking body mentioned that it is recommended to take some small money with you (you can but some snacks/water in the canyon) and the life vests were quite old (safe, but most of them had destroyed pockets). In general I can recommend.

The tour was well organized. Would definitely do it again with them so highly recommend. Safety gear was appropriate and our guide was one of the few carrying an additional rope and a dry bag with him, just in case. They picked us up on time and we were very lucky that on the tour was nobody else except us. Justin, our guide does the tour for almost ten years so he knew every rock and was still highly motivated to share his knowledge about the Kawasan Falls, local people, food and everything else we asked him

We did the Canyoneering day trip to Kawasan falls and we loved it. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They let us borrow money for water during the stay in the falls (since we left the money in the car). The lunch that comes with the trip was good. We could stop a lots of time to take photos and the guides were attentive tho the groups wishes.

I had arranged a tour and accommodations etc. w/quite a few back emails and though they would not give me exact plans they understood what i was interested in and assured me they would take good care of me. Once I got there they made me come back 5 times the first day to see the owner and eventually finding him he said he was drinking beer and did not want to discuss business and promised to meet me at 8 am the next day so I could get a mt. bike and some info for the days ride. So after wasting one of my two days in Moalboal he did not show up the next day and when I got him on the phone he said he forgot. Jochen the owner intentionally sabotaged my vacation and kept laughing at the situation. His staff was equally rude and when I went to check in the resort they would not help so I just went to another resort near by. I wanted to stay there, probably have most of my meals with them, hire a private mt. bike guide, a few days of bike rental and do another trip which would have been a great time for me and business for them and since they knew i was flying the Cebu Island and taking a 2 hr bus just to come see them they treated me as a captive to be abused at their will. I seriously warn anybody else from considering going there and having their vacation ruining their too!!

Keen for an action-packed adventure holiday, 6 of us booked Planet Action's 5day/4night package followed by the 2 day volcano trek. In our minds we were embarking on a full week of hard-core adventure, and it was for this that we decided on a holiday in the philippines. Unfortunately we left sorely dissapointed.
Firstly, the 5day/4night title is very misleading. In reality all you get with that is 2 day trips, and one day you can use their bikes. (On the plus side, the day trips are AWESOME! We did canyoning and river climbing; the latter was particularly worth doing.)
Secondly, having had the volcano trip booked for weeks, and brought all our cold/wet weather hiking gear with us specially, Planet Action refused to honour our booking. Their argument was that we were insufficiently fit, and they would only run the trip for those of a triathlon-level of fitness. This was never mentioned in the countless email exchanges prior to booking, and is also just rediculous. Having summited 5 peaks in the 6,000meter region in the last 3 years, always without guides or porters, I refuse to believe we could not have managed 2,500m!! We argued, but they would not budge, so we left after only 2 days of adventure, frustrated, angry and deeply dissappointed.
In conclusion, if you happen to be in moalboal, by all means do a day trip or two, you will not be disappointed by these. But don't go there especially for this company, don't sign up for the 5d/4n package, and don't bother booking anything in advance!

We settled with planet action for a canyoning trip due to great reviews. The nature was very very nice, the guys professional and safe. The trip was nice and exciting. So far the good points.
Bad points:
- They told us thrice to be there at 9 am, only to leave at 9:45.
- After a 10 minute drive we had to wait another 30 minutes because they had to do grocery shopping. This is called preparation guys.
- One guide, Mario, pointed at a nice snake in the rocks. While we admired it, the other guys (mario's brother and his kids) threw a lot of rocks at the snake for no reason at all. Apparently they had good fun out of it. Even after several complains of me and other guests, they kept throwing. This is NOT how you treat the amazing nature you have here. I decided to walk away and as they were required to follow they left the snake (wounded?) alone.
- Quite a lot of garbage along some points of the trek. The guides didn't do anything about it.
The trek was nice, the organisation OK, the way they treat nature horrible. I wouldn't recommend.

Thank you for your review in where you fairly pointed out positive and negative aspects of your experience. You pointed out that you felt safe and the guides were professional and the trip was nice and exciting.
We sincerely apologize for the bad points and would like to explain:
-The truck had a flat tire and this caused the delay in departure.
-The stop for fresh food shopping in town is a regular schedule. Many of our guest appreciate this as they can also do a quick errand for water, sun screen or other needs.
-We are very sorry with the incident with the snake. Our question to the guides revealed that they threw small stone in the direction of the snake in order to point them out to other guest. There was no intention to harm the snake. We discussed this with the guides as it is not acceptable to throw stones and this will not happen again.

No security briefing, my friend fractured his foot right before the guide told him the water was not deep. Should have told us before uh? The accident arrive at the very first slide, me and another guide had to carry my friend on our shoulder up to the end. The owner didnt whant to refund my friend! Worst canyoneering experience in my whole life! Just go see kawasan fall by foot and skip the over crowded, expensive non-professionnal Planet action canyoneering!

We decided to do some canyoning while in Moalboal and we opted for Planet Action due to the excellent reviews. No regrets there.
There were 3 options and we chose the most challenging one, Tison canyon/falls. This experience required an almost 2 hour truck ride to get to the site. Getting there and after getting prepped, there is a fairly strenuous 2 hour hike to get to the top. The lead guy dosen't dilly dally, keep up, we're losing time. These guys do this so much they don't even break a sweat.
Once we get to the top the fun begins and the adrenaline rushes flow.
There's rapelling, climbing, cliff jumping, swimming and lots of shouting for fun and joy.
After the adventure, there's a barbecue of meat and fish and starches served before the long ride back.
This was a super fun and exciting experience, particularly for me, with a fear of heights, but I prevailed.

Did the Canyoning through Tison Canyon, which included a initial couple of hours hike up to get to it, before canyoning down. Amazing overall experience and plenty of times when I feared for my life (in an exhilarating way). Included plenty of exciting jumps and a couple of rappelling scenarios that were scary but fun. Here's some good and what could be better:
Could be better:
- Make it clearer in the start that good footwear is important and we should bring a bottle of water for the hike
- Highlight beforehand that a good level of fitness is necessary. e.g. for the hike (not easy), the guide sped on without much looking behind to see the folks lagging behind (admittedly me), albeit there was another instructor 10 mins down the hill.
- Travel in van was a bit of squeeze. The cooler boxes took the place of where we would put our feet, so not a comfortable ride
- Safety - Firstly I must reiterate, I absolutely loved the experience and the fact that their was a raw element to this which made it feel like a real adventure as opposed to a theme park ride. In light of that caveat, in hindsight their were a few situations that made me feel safety was not at the fore. Two examples; 1) at the end of my second rappelling, I had to hold the rope, then jump, but the instructor unhooked me from the harness before i got a tight grip on the rope, could have been interesting. 2) One 10m jump, involved jumping forward to clear a rock. We all made it fine, but an afterthought was, what if somebody didn't what would be the first aid procedures? Giving a safety overview before the adventure, would be welcome.
The Good:
- Took us to a place where we were the only group doing this activity and we didn't come across another group or person while doing canyoning.
- Stunning sights while doing canyoning, cannot fault the location and path
- Friendly instructors
- A raw adventure, that made you feel you're traversing through natures challenges without much support. This is what I wanted
- The hike up to the Canyon was a great workout (even though I struggled). Could way to work off the alcohol and get a bit fitter!
- Good meal at the end
Would still recommend people to this adventure with Planet Action, very worthwhile.

Tisan Canyon – Is the name is given by the tour company but not found on any map. The section of canyon we descended is the lower reaches of the river containing Kabutongan Falls.
There are a couple of ways to review this trip. It is at the same time both awesome and dangerous. The canyon and scenery is stunning and for a tourist “adventure” day trip it’s an exhilarating experience. The guides or at least the ones we had were friendly and fun to be with but their technical skills are limited and frankly the way they run the trip is dangerous. The saying “they don’t know what they don’t know” has never applied more.
The bottom line is you can have a great adventure but the risk to life cannot be underestimated. As a minimum, the guides need training in setting up the abseils to make them safe. It would also be better practice if the clients were given a brief and had the techniques required for abseiling demonstrated and practiced before entering the canyon. In our case the tour company nor the guides made any attempt to assess our skills level before the first abseil were they were happy to send us over the edge with no safety line or back up in place. The anchor points they used to set up an initial anchor were not acceptable and I stepped in to change the anchor point. The ropes they set up were 10m short and had no means to stop clients abseiling off the end of the rope and hence falling the final 10m. The guides offered solution was to stop on a very steep ledge and jump the last 10m. For some our group members this was not acceptable, however, the guide basically didn’t have a solution. At this point I stepped in again to provide a safe solution for getting everyone down the remaining 10m.
I cannot fault the guides, they are only as good as the training they have been given. They were open to discussion and interested in learning alternative methods. Less can be said for the operator who should review the activities they are offering, but again I suspect the saying “they don’t know what they don’t know” applies.
Potential clients need to know that although things may look right to the untrained and inexperienced the practices used by this company are frankly dangerous.

We just ran into Planet Action Adventure but there are a lot of other groups. We were happy with the company and the 2 guides they provided. You can shop around when you get to Cebu, prices vary but don’t be afraid to bargain...just don’t lowball. Best thing we did...you’ll have fun!
