We arrived just before noon and had a very nice chat with the woman who is obviously one of the principals of Chateau Simone. She told us about the wine and extolled the virtues of Provencal reds and whites, wines that are generally ignored in favor of rosé by visitors to the region.
Tastings are not offered due to the small production. If you're visiting the chateau, you know the wine and are prepared to buy it.

This is the only winery I have ever visited where tasting was not possible. It was not specified on the website.

I do understand that if they produce low amount of wines (80k bottles in total - which even isn't that little, at other places I have tasted bottles that have been made only 2k bottles), that that they might not want to spend the low amount of bottles for free tasting. The only reason why I visit wineries is that I get to taste all, and I purchase only the ones that I like. I could have easily paid 10 euros to be able the taste 2cl samples of all the 5 wines - that way the winery would still have "sold" the wines.

This was one of the worst winery visits on my trip to Provence & Languedoc, but I still bought 2 bottles of the blanc blind because I want to see if it is as good as they say.

Chateau Simone winery is located just 4km from the centre of Aix-en-Provence and the wines have achieved a great reputation. The Rougier family has owned and run the winery for seven generations and the creation of the wines in this low production, high quality winery is quite unique.
The winery is not open for tours or tastings but for any wine buff keen to talk directly with the producers of these premium wines and buy from the cellar door then a visit is well worthwhile. The wife of the owner and wine maker was very generous with her time in explaining the history and production methods which my wife and I very much appreciated.
