It's big fun to climb the steep slopes that lead to the quarries in a Landrover. The explanation the guides give is interesting and the price of € 12 is fair. A must do unless you suffer from high anxiety.

You can see the white exposed quarry faces from the coast a distance away looking up into the mountains around Carrara. The scale of it demanded that I try and get a closer look. Driving up after Carrara you enter a myriad of one way...More

Getting to the site is a bit unusual, but the return is well worth the effort! The area is amazingly dramatic and you really must have a car to get there. The drive up for me was fun, challenging, but be careful. From the paltry...More

Driving up to the tour, the road was quite easy to follow but pretty narrow at times which was a little testing but shouldn't put you off. There's plenty of free parking once you get to the tour. The tour itself was amazing, starting at...More

What a treat ! An hour's trip in a Land Rover to the top of the currently worked quarries. Brilliant views. Truly ideal conditions. The recent rain had allayed the marble dust, and the overcast conditions were perfect for photography. Strong sunshine would have given...More
