Family packed we went to this place they called SUNGKILAW. And indeed it was a remarkable place to be with. We enjoyed our trip and we definitely have fun. Things need to improve -amenities for tourists and modernated service for less inconvenience. I am a proud Dipolognon.

Last time I was there was when Im in High School. Series of Waterfalls. They have developed the place. I don't know if they are now allowing Kayaking, but Im pretty sure it would be great for those who loves adventures.
There is a cottage and cookout area before you enter the trail going to the waterfalls. With washrooms where you can clean yourself up after bathing in the river/falls. A very nice place for group of friends who like to chill outside the City. The road going there is quite rough, but there are parts of it which is offers fantastic views of the mountaineous part and its forest.

I have been to several falls in Laguna, Aklan, Bohol, Lanao and many others that Sungkilaw to me doesn't fall under "falls" but a creek with rushing white water between two boulders. The drop is only around 5 ft. The area upstream is more scenic and functional than the falls itself. The facilities--sheds, rest rooms, tables, path walk, shower rooms.--are not functional nor maintained. The only rest rooms open are at the reception building near the parking area. Entrance is free.
I suggest, however, that a token fee or donation should be encouraged from visitors to maintain the facilities. With better facilities the place could be promoted as a nature park, camping ground or a weekend picnic area. There are no overnight facilities there so tourists should be urged to bring tents. Better the locals may provide overnight lodging for out of town tourists for a minimal fee. A home-stay arrangement could be okay like in Puerto Galera during peak season.
I took a dip at the cool pool upstream and it was really good. It is not advisable, however, to swim because of the rapid flowing water going down the falls.I propose to the local tourism office to maintain and improve the area. There is now a wide cemented highway all the way to the falls from the junction in barangay Cogon.Second, the city government of Dipolog deploys a free ride bus that leaves city proper to the falls every two hours from the boulevard and at the integrated bus terminal in Sta Isabel near ABC in Miputak. Also a UV point to point van ferries tourists from the integrated overland bus terminal at a reasonable fare on weekends. The potential for the area as tourism destination is great. It needs only better marketing. Second, visitors could take a bus going to Pagadian and disembark in Cogon. Then they could hire a habal-habal or a motorcab going to the falls. A habal-habal from Dipolog costs P120. from Cogon P100 one way. Or visit the area in the morning and take the Libreng Sakay buses of the city government. You may also take your breakfast or lunch in Cogon. There's a restaurant near the junction. Look for Ed Facturan, a pastor, who runs this resto during weekdays.Marang, mangosten, papaya are sometimes sold in his restaurant. The place is airy and you dine al fresco..

Pun intended -- because I tripped & sprained my ankle. Happy birthday to me! 😂
Twas an over-30 km travel from Dipolog.
Some parts of the road weren't paved; can be a muddy/slippery ride on a motorcycle if it rained the night before, so be careful.
Upon arriving, we encountered only one person, whom I assumed was the caretaker. Quite a number of steps down, so again, be careful. Damp steps + dead leaves = sprained ankle (Yay me!).
There's a fork on the steps: the left leads to the viewing area of the falls, the right goes to the picnic/bathing area.
There were A LOT of ants in the viewing area (at that time or maybe always, I don't know). I was barely able to take photos because they were aggressively biting me. I had to march in place to deter them then take a quick shot. Not much of a falls, really. Rather lilliputian.
I didn't get to take a dip in the river (or is it brook?) though. Next time.
I would've liked to explore the place more, but I was debilitated by my sprained ankle.
Left the place around 6 pm. There were no lights at all. I had to use my phone.
Was it worth the trip? Not really. Just checking it off my list.
Will I go back? Not anytime soon.
*no network signal there. At least not for Smart or Sun.
