About
Mike’s Beach Resort (formerly Adventure Dive Shop) is situated in the small town of Dauin on the southern tip of the island of Negros in the heart of the Philippines archipelago. The world renowned Apo Island with its pristine corals and famous turtles is just a 30 minute boat ride away and the network of nearby local Marine Reserves provide incredible macro diving opportunities. It’s a popular choice for both groups and individuals who seek a friendly, informal, yet professional environment. Set right on the beach amongst lush gardens, the resort has 10 attractive bedrooms all with terrace areas, a well equipped dive centre, two diving banca boats and a popular restaurant & terrace bar with an extensive but affordable menu.

Me and my girlfriend stayed 1 night at Mikes dauin and they arrenge divetrips with this company. The people are great and its half the price then Atlantis dive resort if you have 3 dives a day. If you want to dive with these people just email them or Mikes Dauin resort.

We stayed at Mike's due to the reviews online. The property is right on the beach and offers great views of the water. Rooms were comfortable and included TV, aircon & comfy beds. Two members of my family were not divers and signed up for a discovery dive. Staff were excellent and we felt very safe & cared for. The dive sites around Apo Island are amazing.
Staff at Mike's were very attentive and helpful. The food was incredible and we didn't want to eat anywhere else. I highly recommend this dive shop for it's high-level of professionalism.

Mike Feeney's dive trips out of Dumaguete or from his base in Dauin are well organized, using well maintained, reliable equipment---a top notch operation. Quality PADI dive training from discovery dives thru advanced and specialty certifications are also offered. His resort in Dauin is a family-run, small but beautiful place with excellent food, & very personal attention to guests. They also offer climbing, caving & bikeing outings, tho I have only been diving with them. The Feeney's (Joe Ann & Mike), have also been very active in the Dauin, Apo & Dumaguete communities; creating health & school support programs for local kids.

I think we were overcharged for our day trip compared to other dive shops. We were to told to be at a specific place at 930am and didn't even make it on to the boat until after 11. We also had to swim out to the boat and were all told that it was only waist deep (one member of our group was not a strong swimmer) and it was actually neck deep with crazy waves crashing over us. Not a great start to the day. Once we arrived, the rest of the day went well. One thing that bothered me was that they wanted to charge my friend the same amount that they charged us and she didn't even snorkel, she just came for the boat ride. We went with another dive shop after that and the price was greatly reduced for the members of our group that just wanted to come along for the ride.

My husband and I arrived quite late in Dumaguete. So instead of heading to Apo Island we stayed in the city and looked for a dive shop. Found the Adventure Dive Shop right along Boulevard. With their staff Jake who is very friendly and accommodating we agreed for the price. For some might find it a few pesos more. 3 dives was 4000 but it was all worth it. The staff were cool and fun. You can be assured that you will have fun, all the gears were properly serviced which ensures your safety when you go diving and made it even more fun.
The owner Mike Feeney gave us a quick orientation for drift diving which is awesome.. being an open water advance yet only done a few dives, it was great to know that people like Mike whose number one priority like safety is on top of the list. Great staff and truly fun experience. Love the corals in apo... breath taking.
I will recommend Adventure Dive shop to every one. Best if you stay at their resort which is cozy, spacious, friendly staffs and enjoyable.. specially if you are travelling with a family. It can be a paradise.

Mike and Joanne hosted us in mid-February. The weather was wonderful, it is a perfect time to go there. The rooms are clean, neat, and they serve excellent food. We brought our 4-year old and he was busy all day in the pool. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to get a feel for Philippine waters. Bring your kids, great and safe enviornment for them. Beautiful place I would recommend it anytime! The trip to Apo Island was a blast. When diving Mike showed us some rare fish that you won't see if you don't on your own . His staff handled all our gear and made it very easy on us . We thank you Mike .......

Mike’s Resort

Clean rooms. CATV and hot water. Beautifully maintained lawns. Friendly and courteous staff. Good food (especially the grilled lapu-lapu and their sea food pasta) and cold beer. Relaxing atmosphere. What more can you ask for? For the price, nothing beats it (believe us, we’ve done the research).

Adventure Dive Shop

Spacious dive boat (although the ones we used were rented since the shop’s boat was under maintenance). The dive guides were excellent spotters (we were able to see everything Mike promised that we will see; plus a bonus wonderpus!)

As for the rates, I would say Adventure Dive Shop perfectly is somewhere in the middle as far as Dumaguete diving goes. You will find shops who offer cheaper dives but with a compromise (smaller boats, lesser safety precautions, etc.) You’ll also find shops with big dive boats that give you all the luxuries you’ll want, but of course, with a price. With Adventure Dive Shop, there’s no compromise on safety, the boats are comfortable, they have well-maintained back-up equipment, and even emergency O2, at just about the right price.

Mike (the owner)

A handsome fellow and a great host. He was very accommodating during our initial inquiries via email and more so when we arrived at his resort. He arranged our transportation from the airport to the resort and vice versa and even for our land tour of Dumaguete. He even gave us a tour of the local market during the “market day.”

As a dive master (I believe he is a certified instructor), he is one of the best my wife and I have dived with. He shows his environmental concern by reminding his divers not to grab (or as he puts it “make love”) any part of the reef. He keeps an eye out for each and every diver under his care. He even noticed us and gave assistance when I was helping out my wife who had problems with her regulator during a really fast drift dive.

All in all, we’re extremely pleased with the resort and dive shop and will definitely come back for more. We’ll dive you again Mainit!

Was recommended by a friend, they wanted 4000 pesos for three dives, I tried asking for a discount, the going rate for diving is about 1000 per dive or 3000 pesos. They just gave me a flat "no". It became unpleasant, the diving was okay, but Mike and the staff made me uncomfortable, I stayed at the resort for dinner and was then told "I had to leave", because the staff needed to go home. Not a pleasant experience.

While there are many "tour-operators" in Dumaguete the Adventure-Diveshop is the one to recommend. It might be a few dollars more than others but at least you are safe.

While many local run dive-shops and operators send you on a trip the Filipino way (it will work hopefully somehow), the Adventure-Diveshop ensures you that it is safe. You will discover snorkeling at Apo on a big maintained banka, go Scuba Diving with O2 and medic first aid-kit on board or go caving with working torches.

However, you may choose a local tour-operator for visiting a market or waterfalls but should not do that when safety is an issue.

I don't consider this as an "attraction" as this dive shop is just one of the dive shops in Dumaguete who offer dive tours and adventures in the island of Negros. I know they would offer good service especially for diving tours/packages but you can also look up the other establishments who offer this kind of tours as there are a lot of them to be able to get the best price.
