About
From food and wine show to international festival of cultural integration, it has become an event that celebrates friendship and brotherhood between peoples. It was in 1998, towards the end of the summer, when a small town in the province of Trapani hosted an event dedicated to cous cous, a traditional dish in the local area, which was widespread in the Maghreb but almost unknown in the rest of Italy. The aim of the event was to celebrate a simple ingredient, originally from the Mediterranean area, with an international competition that brought together different peoples, histories, traditions, cultures and religions – in the name of cous cous. That is how the Cous Cous Fest began, a Mediterranean food and wine show that made San Vito Lo Capo the world capital of cous cous, hospitality and multiculturalism. The journey began twenty years ago, and nobody could have imagined that it would evolve in such a surp

Love it
Sep 2019
We have been going to festival since 2013, we havent been every single year but love to plan for every few years. We have also been outside of the festival and loved that too. Took friends one year and that was so fab. I loved sharing my excitement with them. The first year was crazy, we couldnt get a seat in any bar, but met some awesome people and still had fun. The following festival we went to we literally had a back stage seat in a bar and mingled with famous celebrities until the wee small hours. The last time we went it was held on the beach and not so inclusive, but still brilliant. Yeah its expensive, but festivals are, if you dont want that dont go at that time. It’s part of our life now

Amazing Cultural Experiance

Wandered through the festival for 3 days. Staying in San Vito for a week and caught the tail end of the festivities. This total transforms this quiet town into a cosmopolitan whirl wind. We enjoyed all the happenings but as my Italian is very weak we didn't understand much of what was happening. Ate great food, shopped unique shops and wouldn't have passed it up for anything!

We planned our Sicily trip around this festival, Disappointed in the quality of food and it was pricey, still had the beach at San Vito Lo Capo, the best in Europe.

Pleasant addition to rest

Without this festival it would be more boring. Fun, tasty, interesting, beautiful. The tasting is accompanied by evening concerts of Italian musicians. Gathers a lot of tourists and local residents. For a small town this is a great event. And for the tourist a pleasant surprise. We learned a lot of interesting things about couscous.

Cous cous Festival 2017 - not value for money and tasteless
Sep 2017 • Couples
We have heard so much about this advertised Festival .

What a disappointment . Went on Monday 18/9/17 .

The price is Euro10.00 which includes a plate of your chosen cous cous,a bottle of water(150mls) and a ever so so miniature Sicilian cassata.

The portion of cous cous we were given was so small and it was so so dry.

My husband and I both had from the stand as per photograph so did our guests.

It was dry, sauce less and tasteless .

We had it with meat and chickpeas and our guests chicken and vegetable .

I definitely will not return to this Festival . Not worth the money .
We would of got a better tasting cous cous in a small restaurant .

In the streets they serve couscous for which you have to pay heavily. The quality, though, is rather average. One needs to like huge crowds to walk along

We were in the evening before the closing day last week .....it was nice ....live cooking shows then we ate there....walked around .....stands are quite scattered not all in one area but it was worth visiting. San Vito Lo Capo beach is lovely and the village itself....we ll try and go again!

Quick visit but nice atmosphere

We stayed for about an hour around 18:00 on a Thursday. The streets were pedestrian only, stages were preparing for the evening shows and lot's of shops and stands were open. We strawled through the streets and bought ourselves tickets for 20€ for 2 persons which included a cous cous dish by choice (8 choices), one beverage (beer, wine, non alcoholic) and a desert (sweet or fruit). It was a nice experience and cheap food ;-)

a little more sauce and veggies please
Sep 2016 • Family
We were excited to be able to experience this popular culinary event. it was well-set up with tents spread around town. ten euro's for a plate of food, a plastic cup of nondescript wine and juicy melon dessert is a good deal, with plenty of variety from vegetarian, fish to meat; but our plates were filled with well-prepared couscous with simplt too little topping, juices and veg. Perhaps some of the other choices would have been more satisfying.
