Yes there are 324 of them but each one worth it. I thought of running from the bottom to the very top but decided against it. Instead, enjoy the views of the river as you climb and the statue of d’Artagnon near the top.

It was extremely hot when we visited the monument is we didn't climb the steps but the view across the river is amazing. Definitely with seeing.

These gracefully built stairs lead from the LeGers river to the cathedral on the top. The statue of D'Artagnon grace the stairs as Auch boosts that he was born here. There are also a fountain and some historical marker here as well. A nice walk/climb.

A must see and stunning views of the area and the Gers. The walk up takes you into the old city below is the river Gers and the more commercial area.

It is a short walk from the cathedral and the views are excellent. A great big limestone building with fountains and the sculpture of D'Artagnan.

This is a gorgeous esplanade. Romantically lit at night and Good gathering place by day. This faces a main square with restaurants, the tourist office and at the far end of the street the glorious Auch cathedral. Great place to people-watch or enjoy one of...More

This staircase is impressive, it takes quite some time to complete and one would nit want to do this around midday in summertime. It is a good thing that this is being restored, you can see the wear-and-tear of the ages and it would be...More

Auch is famous for its Escalier monumental, and indeed it is beautiful after restauration. Most visitors come for a snapshot with the statue of d'Artagnan.

This is highlighted on the Red/Green walking tour map of Auch and gives detail to the history of the monument and its significance. Great place to pause and catch one's breath.

This is a good example of the architecture of European elegance. The Escalier begins at the foot of the cathedral, and ends at the river Gers. If you are in Auch, it is worth seeing, and taking a walk.
