About
Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

A bit disappointed with how run down the attraction has become, and how the up keep of some on the rides have become run down. This was our second time coming to see waterworks.

Great fun for adults and children. We'll worth a visit. Fun and silly. Can easily spend a few hours here. Decent cafe.

We stayed through Airbnb in the apartment located right in Waterworks. It was a large 3 bedroom apartment which had a separate enclosed outside area which had a private bbq and direct access to the park.
It also includes free access to the park. The park itself was quirky and fun with lots to see and do. From a fantastic waterslide, swimming holes, two flying foxes, a maze and lots of water features and activities to keep our kids busy for the whole day.
My daughter loved the friendly cat Pepper and we all had so much fun. It's not too far off the main road to Coromandel Town and definitely worth a visit. It's only 2.5 hours from central Auckland and would make a great day trip too. We will definitely be back.

Incredible, INCREDIBLE place. Totally worth the trip on road 309. We’d also like to acknowledge the excellent service at the café. :)

A really wacky experience! The staff were really friendly and the cafe looked good. Some of the attactions were a bit run down, and others are a bit strange but that seemed to all be part of the experience! They had a beautiful creek at the end of the park to swim in on a hot day. Perfect for kids, except maybe the flying fox as it goes very fast and we (two adults) almost fell off! The staff member did warn us of this however. Also good to note that it is only reachable by a dirt road. While you are in the area, we also recommend visiting the beautiful waiau falls which are only a 5 minute drive away.

Wow! We had such a great day!5 hours+ Fun for all ages there's something for all. Quirky, artsy, engineering designs. Which got ones nugget working! Clever and curious ways to reuse materials. Rustic, artsy and rather cool😎. Not to mention the beautiful foliage and pretty gardens the works are set amongst. Prepare for a punny day with all the little jokes boards dotted around. An amazing maze with plenty of water squirting jest! and naughtiness! ET bicycle ride was rather nostalgic fun! We had a break half way and had coffee and cakes in the cafe and the owner was friendly as were his sweet border collies Laurel and Hardy. Also, my partner is disabled and he was granted free access and use of mobility scooter, which really was very appreciated as its quite a big park so would have been harder for him to walk around. Thus we felt blessed! Water wonderful day out! 💦😊🙏💜

Great fun! So much bigger and better than we expected. I wish my kids were younger: they would have loved this! Highly recommended for a hot day to enjoy the water slide and all the water-themed frolics.
The staff are super-friendly. The cafe is available for basic food and drink.
Steep entry cost is worth it.
Do not miss!

We spent a full 5 hours here, lots of fun for all the family. We had lots of fun, and look forward to perhaps returning in the warmer months. Great well appointed park like grounds. Awesome playground and lots of fun things to do.
Favourite was the flying bikes, the flying fox (though I chickened out of the adult one), the unexpected surprises of water, and the clock was amazing!

Don’t bother. So run down, tatty and not everything is in working order. Entry very overpriced and would not go back. What a shame as I’m local but would not recommend this.
