Unfriendly, unhelpful, unappealing

This large supermarket complex caters to tourists in summer and, allegedly, to locals all year round. But, apart from selling some locally grown veg, it does little or nothing to make itself popular or even attractive to anyone. The music is head-wrecking, the prices are cynical, there are never enough checkouts open, staff rarely know anything about anything and sometimes there is a very strange musty smell. You get the feeling that E.Leclerc just wants your money and to be rid of you. One or two good points: a strong wine department and a very nice helpful chap in the back in the electronic/technology area. Other than this, the place has no personality whatsoever, no Normandy character, nothing that says you are in the Pays de Caux, never mind that you are welcome. Even the satellite shops surrounding the supermarket are silent, unsmiling and make barely any effort to entice customers. If anyone ever wanted to make a movie about the famous Gallic shrug, this would be the perfect location.

We shop here every time we are in France, having been going for years....

We love this shop. Not only is there a great selection in the main shop but there is also an excellent media area, book shop/stationers and perfumery. Personally Leclerc is my favourite French supermarket, we visit France every year and shop there every visit. My wife loves it there and our young son loves the fish counter! The bakery has a clock on display with the time when the next batch of bread will be on the shelf, so you can get it as fresh as possible.
